Best insulated cafetière: double-walled cafetières that keep coffee hot

Double-walled steel and glass cafetières sold in the UK compared on capacity, cleaning and makers' heat claims, with prices checked 3 Oct 2026.

The best insulated cafetière in the UK will keep your second cup hot without a cosy or a trip to the microwave. Most use a double-walled body, either in steel or glass, and a few makers put a number on how long it lasts. We haven’t tested this in person. This guide is based on product listings at Lakeland, Redber and Aarke UK, with prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Heat-retention figures are the sellers’ own claims. Read how we compare.

Best insulated cafetiere UK: the short answer

Get the La Cafetière Double Walled Insulated 8 Cup if you want a classic-looking steel cafetière for the table. It was £51.99 at Lakeland, which lists a 1-litre capacity, a stainless steel filter and a 10-year maker’s guarantee.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to use the dishwasher. Lakeland lists it as hand wash only.

Get the Bodum Columbia 1L if you want a stated heat claim and dishwasher-safe cleaning for less. Check price at Redber. Redber says it keeps coffee hot for up to two hours.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to see the coffee brewing. It’s steel all over.

Get the Lakeland Double Wall Cafetiere 1 Litre if you’re on a budget and prefer glass. It was £19.99 at Lakeland.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs it to survive a knock. It’s glass, not steel.

What an insulated cafetière costs

Our picks ranged from £19.99 for double-wall glass to £99 for the vacuum-insulated Aarke on 3 Oct 2026. The steel 8-cup models started at £51.99.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who drinks the whole pot straight away. A standard single-wall cafetière will do.

Double-walled steel or glass with a cosy?

Double-walled steel has an air gap, or with the Aarke a vacuum, between two layers of steel. Lakeland says the La Cafetière model “effectively traps heat” and stays cool enough to touch. Steel can’t smash, but you can’t see inside.

Double-wall glass, like Lakeland’s own cafetière, keeps the look of a classic cafetière. Lakeland says it helps keep coffee warmer for longer and the outside more comfortable to hold, but it doesn’t give a time.

Single-wall glass with a cosy is another option, but none of our picks uses it.

Who it isn’t for: anyone hoping insulation will stop the coffee getting stronger. The grounds keep steeping until you pour it all off.

Heat loss and taste

Insulation slows cooling, but the grounds stay in contact with the coffee until you pour. If you’re keeping a pot for a while, pour the rest into a flask or jug once it’s brewed. La Cafetière’s Double Walled Vacuum Jug (1.2L) was also £42.99 at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a single-vessel solution. Decanting means one more thing to wash.

The picks

La Cafetière Double Walled Insulated 8 Cup: £51.99 at Lakeland. Lakeland describes a mirror-polished, rust-resistant stainless steel body, a fine-mesh steel filter and a narrow pouring spout. It makes up to eight cups, based on a 125ml serving, and Lakeland says it’s not for stovetop use.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a modern look. It has a traditional bellied shape.

Bodum Columbia 1L: check price at Redber. Redber lists a 1,000ml double-wall stainless steel body with a chrome finish, a silicone and mesh plunger, a cool-touch handle and a spill-resistant lid. It also says it’s dishwasher safe and keeps coffee hot for up to two hours.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who’d rather buy direct. We couldn’t load a current price on Bodum’s UK site.

Aarke Coffee Press: £99 at Aarke UK, £99.95 at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026. Aarke lists a stainless steel body with double-wall vacuum insulation, a 1-litre (8-cup) capacity, a weight of 850g and tool-free disassembly. It claims coffee stays hot for up to three hours, and says the press is dishwasher safe.

Who it isn’t for: anyone on a budget. It costs almost twice as much as the other steel picks.

Lakeland Double Wall Cafetiere 1 Litre: £19.99 at Lakeland. Lakeland lists double-wall borosilicate glass, a detachable stainless steel mesh filter and an easy-pour spout. It’s also sold in 600ml (£17.99 at Lakeland) and 350ml (£14.99 at Lakeland) sizes, checked 3 Oct 2026.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to keep coffee hot for hours. Lakeland gives no time.

La Cafetière Double Walled Insulated 3 Cup: £38.99 at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026. This is the small version of our top pick, with a 350ml capacity and the same 10-year guarantee.

Who it isn’t for: households. It’s one generous mugful, by Lakeland’s own description.

Downsides

  • Conflicting cleaning advice. For the 3 Cup, Lakeland’s bullet points say hand wash only, but its description says dishwasher safe. Check the instructions in the box.
  • Different cup sizes. La Cafetière’s cup counts are based on a 125ml serving for the 8 Cup and 116ml for the 3 Cup.
  • No independent heat figures. All the heat claims here come from sellers.

Cleaning and decanting tips

  • Tip out the grounds into the bin or compost. Don’t pour them down the sink.
  • Take the plunger apart and rinse the mesh, where oils build up.
  • Dry steel models fully before you put them away.
  • Decant coffee you won’t drink within a few minutes.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who hates taking plungers apart. The Aarke’s tool-free design may help.
