Best travel mug for iced coffee: insulated tumblers with straws

Insulated straw tumblers and cups for iced coffee from Chilly's, Stanley and Hydro Flask, compared on size, lids and cleaning. Prices checked 3 Oct 2026.

The best travel mug for iced coffee is usually a tumbler rather than a classic coffee cup. You want room for ice, a straw or sip lid that doesn’t drip, and insulation so the ice doesn’t melt before you’ve finished. We haven’t tested this in person. This guide is based on product listings at Chilly’s, Stanley UK and Go Outdoors, with prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Cold-retention figures are the makers’ own claims. Read how we compare.

Best travel mug for iced coffee: the short answer

Get the Chilly’s Switch Cup 750ml if you drink iced coffee and hot coffee from the same cup. Check price at Chilly’s. Chilly’s says it has a straw mode with a 12mm stainless steel straw and a cup mode with a mug-like rim.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to use the dishwasher. Chilly’s says it isn’t dishwasher safe.

Get the Stanley Quencher ProTour Flip Straw Tumbler 0.89L if you want a big, leakproof tumbler for the car. It was £50 at Stanley UK, which says it fits most car cupholders and is dishwasher safe.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a small cup. It holds 0.89 litres and weighs 550g, according to Stanley.

Get the Chilly’s Original Straw Coffee Cup 500ml if you want a straw cup for less. It was £16 at Chilly’s, checked 3 Oct 2026.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants hot drinks as well. You’d need Chilly’s separate Original Hot Lid.

What an iced coffee travel mug costs

Our picks ranged from £16 to £50 on 3 Oct 2026. Stanley listed most colours of the Quencher 0.89L at £50. Stanley UK’s pages also showed a “Sign in to Purchase” note for Stanley 1913 Club members alongside Add to Cart, so check how you can buy before you plan around a price.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who already owns an insulated bottle. Iced coffee works in any insulated cup with a wide enough opening.

Tumbler or travel mug for cold drinks?

Tumblers like the Stanley Quencher and Hydro Flask All Around are tall, wide cups with a straw or sip lid. They’re easy to fill with ice.

Travel mugs like the Chilly’s coffee cups are shorter and made for sipping. The Switch adds a straw mode, so it covers both.

Bottles like the Stanley IceFlow have a narrower body for bags and cupholders.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who mainly drinks hot coffee. A standard travel mug with a hot lid suits that better.

What to look for

  • Straw size. Chilly’s says the Switch’s 12mm straw is wide enough for tapioca balls in bubble tea.
  • Leakproofing. Stanley lists both of its picks as leakproof. Chilly’s says its Original Hot Lid is leakproof, but doesn’t say the same for the straw lid.
  • Ice room. A bigger cup, like the 0.89L Stanley or 910ml Hydro Flask, leaves more room for ice.
  • Cleaning. Stanley and Hydro Flask list dishwasher-safe builds. Chilly’s says its cups aren’t dishwasher safe.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants every feature. You’ll trade size for portability.

The picks

Chilly’s Switch Cup 750ml: check price at Chilly’s. Chilly’s lists a BPA-free lid, a silent rubber base and double-walled insulation, and gives a height of 239mm in straw mode. On cold retention, it says the cup will “generally” keep drinks cold for several hours, depending on the drink and conditions. The 500ml size was out of stock.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs a cupholder fit. Chilly’s lists an 88mm width but doesn’t mention cupholders.

Stanley Quencher ProTour Flip Straw Tumbler 0.89L: £50 at Stanley UK. Stanley lists 18/8 recycled stainless steel, double-wall vacuum insulation, a flip straw lid with a removable spout and replaceable seal, a comfort-grip handle and dimensions of 138 x 90 x 250mm. It says your drink stays cold “for hours”.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who prefers to sip from the rim.

Chilly’s Original Straw Coffee Cup 500ml: £16 at Chilly’s. Chilly’s lists a body made from 90% post-consumer recycled stainless steel, a BPA-free lid, a weight of 330g and a height of 194mm. It’s compatible with the Original Series Flip Cup lid, but not the push-on Original lids.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a stated cold time. Chilly’s only says “colder for longer”.

Stanley IceFlow Bottle Flip Straw 2.0 0.47L: £35 at Stanley UK, checked 3 Oct 2026. Stanley lists double-wall vacuum insulation, a leakproof flip straw, a removable spout for cleaning, a carry handle and a weight of 320g. It says it keeps water “ice-cold for days” and fits a car cupholder.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to add lots of ice. It’s a bottle, not a wide tumbler.

Hydro Flask 32oz All Around Tumbler: £42 at Go Outdoors, checked 3 Oct 2026. Go Outdoors lists a 910ml capacity, 18/8 stainless steel, TempShield double-wall vacuum insulation and a closable press-in lid that opens wide enough for reusable straws. It says the tapered shape fits most cupholders.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a straw included. The listing mentions straw compatibility, not a straw.

Downsides

  • Hand washing. Both Chilly’s picks aren’t dishwasher safe, according to Chilly’s.
  • Vague cold claims. Only Stanley’s IceFlow puts a time on it (“days”), and that’s for water.
  • Weight. The big Stanley tumbler weighs 550g empty, according to Stanley.
  • Not for the freezer. Hydro Flask and Chilly’s both say not to freeze their cups.

Cleaning straws and lids

  • Take the lid apart where you can. Stanley says you can remove the spout on both its picks.
  • Use a straw brush for the straw.
  • Rinse straight after milky drinks, so residue doesn’t dry in the straw.
  • Leave everything to dry with the lid off.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who hates washing up. Straw lids have more parts than a sip lid.
