Breville One-Touch CoffeeHouse II review: one-touch milk drinks on a budget
The Breville One-Touch CoffeeHouse II (VCF146/VCF147) is a pump espresso machine with an automatic milk frother. Specs, availability on 3 Oct 2026, owner-reported issues and alternatives.

This Breville One Touch CoffeeHouse II review covers Breville’s VCF146 and VCF147 pump espresso machines. They have an automatic milk frother and one-touch drinks, and they take ground coffee or ESE pods. We haven’t tested this in person. This review is based on an archived copy of Breville UK’s product page, including the owner reviews shown on it, plus Breville UK’s and Currys’ current listings checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
Breville One Touch CoffeeHouse II review: the short answer
Skip it for now. We couldn’t find the One-Touch CoffeeHouse II new at Breville UK or Currys on 3 Oct 2026. Breville UK’s VCF146 product page now redirects to its Prima Latte VCF183.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to buy new from a major UK retailer today.
Get the Breville Prima Latte VCF183 instead if you want a similar one-touch Breville with an automatic milk frother. It was £199.99 at Breville UK and £199.99 at Currys (in stock), checked 3 Oct 2026. Currys prices can change. Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants fresh-ground beans. Like the CoffeeHouse II, it has no grinder.
What it costs right now
On 3 Oct 2026 we couldn’t find a current UK price for a new One-Touch CoffeeHouse II:
- Breville UK: the VCF146 page redirects to the Prima Latte, and the VCF147 page redirects to the espresso category.
- Currys: searches for “one touch coffeehouse” and “vcf146” didn’t return it.
- Other retailers: Amazon and Argos blocked our checks, and John Lewis’s site didn’t respond.
If you see one listed, check whether it’s new or refurbished, and whether it comes with a full warranty.
Who it isn’t for: bargain hunters without a fallback. Stock looks thin.
Drinks and controls
The archived Breville UK page lists:
- a pre-programmed touch control panel for espresso, cappuccino and latte
- an illuminated progress bar that shows when the machine is ready and when your drink is done
- single and double shots
- auto and manual settings, plus custom froth controls if you want more milk
One owner review on the archived page said cappuccinos were on the small side, and that tall latte glasses could be hard to fit.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who mainly drinks large lattes in tall glasses.
Pump and coffee
Breville lists a 19-bar Italian pump and single and double shot filters. The machine takes your own ground coffee or ESE (easy serve espresso) pods. There’s no grinder, so the coffee is only as fresh as the grounds you buy.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who already grinds beans and wants a bean-to-cup. See our bean-to-cup machines hub instead.
Milk system
The automatic frother draws milk from a 600ml reservoir, which Breville says is removable and can be stored in the fridge. You set the froth level with a control dial, and Breville says it works with dairy or non-dairy milk.
Several owner reviews on the archived Breville page reported the frother failing. Some said milk stopped coming up the tube, and others reported error lights after months of use. These are individual owner reports, not a measured failure rate.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a frother they can take apart and fix easily. A separate jug frother is simpler. See our milk frother guide.
Cleaning
The archived Breville page doesn’t spell out the cleaning routine in its feature list, but owner reviews on it mention a cleaning function, and one owner said everything was easy to clean. Because the milk reservoir comes off and can go in the fridge, you don’t have to empty it after every drink. The VCF146/VCF147 instruction booklet is listed on Breville UK’s manuals page if you need the full routine.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who never wants to clean a milk line. Any machine that draws milk through a tube needs regular cleaning.
Who should still consider one
If you find a new or properly refurbished One Touch CoffeeHouse II with a warranty, at a price clearly below the Prima Latte’s £199.99, it may still suit you. It’s for people who want push-button cappuccinos from supermarket ground coffee and don’t want to learn to steam milk. If the price is close to the Prima Latte’s, the current model is easier to buy and easier to get support for.
Who it isn’t for: anyone buying second-hand without a warranty, given the frother reports above.
Downsides
- Hard to buy new: we found no current listing at Breville UK or Currys.
