De'Longhi Magnifica Plus vs Magnifica Evo: is the touchscreen worth it?
De'Longhi Magnifica Plus vs Evo: the Plus adds a colour touchscreen, user profiles and automatic milk, the Evo is simpler and cheaper. Model codes, UK prices and who should pick which.

De’Longhi Magnifica Plus vs Evo comes down to one question: is a full colour touchscreen with user profiles and automatic milk worth paying extra for? On 3 Oct 2026 the titanium black Magnifica Plus ECAM320.70.TB was £549.00 at Currys, and the cheapest Magnifica Evo we found, the ECAM290.31.SB, was £299.00 at Currys, both checked 3 Oct 2026. We haven’t tested this in person. This comparison is based on De’Longhi UK’s product and range pages, Currys’ listings and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
If you want the full picture on the Evo’s many model codes, our De’Longhi Magnifica Evo review goes through each one, so we’ve kept this page to the differences that matter when you’re choosing between the two ranges.
De’Longhi Magnifica Plus vs Evo: the short answer
Buy the Magnifica Plus if more than one person uses the machine, you drink lattes and cappuccinos most days, and you’d like each person’s favourites saved. De’Longhi UK lists a 3.5-inch full-touch colour display, up to four user profiles and LatteCrema Hot automatic milk frothing.
Buy a Magnifica Evo if your daily drink is an espresso, a long black or an americano, and you’re happy to froth milk with a steam wand now and then. The steam wand Evo models are the cheapest way into this part of De’Longhi’s range.
Who it isn’t for: anyone tempted by the automatic-milk Evo. On the day we checked, De’Longhi UK listed it at £579.99 or £529.99 depending on colour, which is more than the £549.00 Currys was asking for the Magnifica Plus with its bigger screen and more drinks.
What each one costs right now
Prices come from Currys’ Magnifica Plus results, Currys’ Magnifica Evo results and De’Longhi UK’s Magnifica Plus range:
- Magnifica Plus ECAM320.70.TB (titanium black): £549.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026. De’Longhi UK showed it as out of stock on 3 Oct 2026, so check price at De’Longhi UK.
- Magnifica Plus ECAM320.60.B (black): £699.99 at De’Longhi UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
- Magnifica Evo ECAM290.31.SB (silver and black): £299.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026.
- Magnifica Evo ECAM290.61.SB (silver): £349.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026.
- Magnifica Evo ECAM290.21.B (black, steam wand): £419.99 at De’Longhi UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
- Magnifica Evo with automatic frothing: £579.99 (titanium) and £529.99 (silver black) at De’Longhi UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
- Amazon UK: Check price at Amazon. We haven’t included an Amazon price.
The gap is wide. At Currys on 3 Oct, the Plus cost £250.00 more than the cheapest Evo. At De’Longhi UK’s full prices, the black Plus cost £280.00 more than the black steam wand Evo.
Who it isn’t for: anyone paying full price for the Plus without shopping around. Its £699.99 list price at De’Longhi UK is a lot more than the £549.00 Currys was charging for the 18-drink version.
Screen and controls: the main difference
This is the heart of the choice. The Magnifica Plus has what De’Longhi calls a 3.5-inch full-touch colour display with animations. You swipe through the drinks, and you can set up to four user profiles so each person’s preferences are remembered.
The Magnifica Evo ECAM290.21.B uses a soft touch control panel with colour icons, one for each recipe. It’s simpler: you press the icon for the drink you want. We didn’t see user profiles listed on the Evo page we checked.
If you’re the only person using the machine and you drink the same thing every morning, profiles add little. If two or three people share it and each likes their coffee a different way, they save fiddling with settings every time.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who just wants big, obvious buttons. Some people prefer a fixed panel to a screen you swipe through, and the Evo’s icons suit that.
Drinks and milk
De’Longhi UK lists the Magnifica Plus ECAM320.60.B with 15 one-touch drinks, including espresso, flat white, cappuccino, caffelatte, Doppio+ and latte macchiato. The ECAM320.70.TB is listed with 18, including espresso, cappuccino, long, cold americano, flat white and cortado. Both use LatteCrema Hot, which froths milk automatically and runs a one-touch clean after each use, according to De’Longhi UK.
On the Evo side, the milk system depends on the model code. De’Longhi UK lists the ECAM290.21.B with four one-touch recipes and a traditional milk frother, which is a manual steam wand that also gives hot water for tea. De’Longhi’s Evo range page shows other versions with automatic frothing and seven drinks. Currys also sells the ECAM290.31.SB and ECAM290.61.SB, so check each listing to see which milk system you’re getting.
Who it isn’t for: the steam wand Evo isn’t for anyone who wants a latte without effort. You’ll need to froth and pour the milk yourself, and clean the wand afterwards.
Names and model codes to watch
Both ranges come in several versions, and the names don’t always help. The ECAM320.70.TB is called Magnifica Plus at Currys and in De’Longhi’s own description, yet the De’Longhi UK page heading we saw called it “Magnifica Evo Next”. Currys also sells a separate Magnifica Evo Next, the ECAM310.60.B. Go by the model code on the listing, not the name.
The Plus codes start with ECAM320 and the Evo codes start with ECAM290. If a listing doesn’t show the code, ask before you buy, because the same name can cover machines with very different milk systems and prices. If the older Magnifica S is also on your list, our Magnifica S vs Evo comparison covers that choice.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who buys on the name alone. That’s how you end up with a steam wand when you wanted automatic milk.
Who should pick which
Choose the Magnifica Plus if you share the machine, and you drink milky coffee most days. At £549.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, it gives you the bigger screen, profiles and automatic milk for less than De’Longhi’s own price for the automatic-milk Evo.
Choose a steam wand Magnifica Evo if you want the lowest price for fresh-ground espresso and black coffee at one touch. It’s also the better fit if you’d like to learn to froth milk yourself.
Think about a different machine if your budget is firmly under £300 or you want something even simpler. Our De’Longhi Magnifica Start review covers De’Longhi’s entry model, and our best bean-to-cup machines under £500 round-up looks wider. If you’re still deciding whether bean-to-cup suits you at all, start with our guide to bean-to-cup machines.
Who it isn’t for: neither machine suits someone who wants to control every part of the shot by hand. Both grind and brew automatically.
Downsides of each
