Morphy Richards bean to cup coffee machine review: the Zino Grind & Brew

Morphy Richards' only bean-to-cup machine is the Zino, a grind-and-brew filter maker, not an espresso machine. Here's what £149 at Currys gets you and who it suits.

This Morphy Richards bean-to-cup coffee machine review covers the Zino Grind & Brew, which is the only machine in Morphy Richards’ current UK range that grinds beans and brews a full jug. One thing to know up front: it’s a filter coffee machine with a built-in grinder, not an espresso-style bean-to-cup like a De’Longhi or Philips. It’s £149.00 at Currys and £159.99 at Morphy Richards UK (both checked 3 Oct 2026). We haven’t tested this in person. Our verdict is based on Morphy Richards UK’s and Currys’ published specs and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.

Quick answer: the Morphy Richards Zino Grind & Brew is a filter coffee machine with a built-in grinder, not an espresso bean-to-cup. It grinds and brews up to about 12 cups into a 1.5-litre glass jug, and was £149.00 at Currys on 3 Oct 2026. It suits households that drink filter coffee by the mugful; it can’t make espresso or froth milk.

If you came looking for a Morphy Richards machine that makes espresso and froths milk at a button press, there isn’t one in the brand’s UK range right now. Its coffee-machine collection lists filter machines, two grind-and-brew models and manual pump espresso machines. So the real question is whether a grind-and-brew filter machine suits the way you drink coffee.

Morphy Richards bean-to-cup coffee machine review: the short answer

Buy the Zino if you drink black or milky filter coffee by the mugful, often for more than one person, and you want the beans ground fresh each time without buying a separate grinder. At £149.00 at Currys (in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026), it’s a fair price for a machine that grinds, brews and holds up to 12 cups.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants espresso, flat whites or lattes. The Zino has no pump and no steam wand, so it can’t make a true espresso or froth milk.

Choose the Tazza Pour & Go instead if you only ever make one cup at a time. It’s Morphy Richards’ single-cup grind-and-brew machine, with a 35g grinder and a travel mug in the box, at £79.99 at Currys (in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026).

Who it isn’t for: households making coffee for two or more people at once, as it brews one cup per cycle from a 0.55-litre tank.

Skip both if you want café-style drinks. An espresso bean-to-cup such as the Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10 is £279 at John Lewis, checked 3 Oct 2026, and our Philips 2200 EP2220 review explains what the extra money buys. Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10: See it at John Lewis for Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10 (opens in a new tab)

Who it isn’t for: anyone on a tight budget who’s happy with filter coffee. The Philips costs more than twice as much as the Zino.

What it costs right now

These are the prices we found on 3 Oct 2026:

  • Zino 162107 (Stone): £149.00 at Currys, in stock, with no was price shown, checked 3 Oct 2026. It’s £159.99 at Morphy Richards UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
  • Zino 162108 (Olivine, sold by Currys as Green & Silver): £149.00 at Currys, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026, and £159.99 at Morphy Richards UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
  • Tazza Pour & Go 162105: £79.99 at Currys, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026, and £99.99 at Morphy Richards UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.

Currys was £10.99 cheaper than the brand’s own site for the Zino when we checked. We couldn’t fetch Argos’s listings, so we’ve left them out.

What the Zino does, and what it doesn’t

You fill the hopper with up to 200g of beans and the tank with up to 1.5 litres of water, choose how many cups you want, and press a button. The machine grinds the beans, brews through a washable, reusable filter into a glass jug and stops at the cup amount you picked. Morphy Richards says two cups take about two minutes and a full 12 cups about seven.

The grind choice is simple. Morphy Richards lists fine and coarse settings, plus a pre-ground option if you’d rather use a bag of ground coffee. Currys describes the grind as adjustable but doesn’t give a number of settings. That’s fewer choices than some rivals; the Melitta AromaFresh II, for example, has 11 grind settings according to Currys. Melitta AromaFresh II: See it at Currys for Melitta AromaFresh II (opens in a new tab)

There are three water temperature settings, a digital display, a water level indicator, an anti-drip feature and an auto standby mode to save energy. Currys also lists the Zino as “programmable”, though neither listing says exactly what that covers, so check before you buy if a wake-up timer matters to you.

Morphy Richards’ own copy says the Zino can make “espresso-like” coffee. It’s still a drip machine without a pump, so expect strong filter coffee, not espresso with crema.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who likes to fine-tune grind size for different beans. Two grind settings is a basic range.

Specs and size

  • Grinder: built in, 200g bean capacity (Morphy Richards UK and Currys)
  • Jug: 1.5-litre glass carafe, about 12 cups
  • Water tank: 1.5 litres
  • Power: 1,200W
  • Weight: 5.5kg
  • Dishwasher-safe parts: carafe, funnel and filter (Morphy Richards UK)
  • Guarantee: two years (Currys)

The dimensions need a note. Morphy Richards UK lists the Zino at 21.7cm high, 31.6cm wide and 43.3cm deep. Currys gives the same three figures but labels 43.3cm as the height. Either way, one side is 43.3cm, so measure both the depth of your worktop and the space under your wall cupboards before you order.

Who it isn’t for: very small kitchens. If space is tight, the Tazza is much narrower at 15cm wide, according to Currys.

Cleaning and running costs

The reusable filter means there are no paper filters to buy. The jug, funnel and filter can go in the dishwasher, according to Morphy Richards. As with any machine that grinds beans, expect to brush out coffee dust from the grinder area from time to time, and descale it regularly if you live in a hard-water area. Check the manual for Morphy Richards’ recommended method.

Your main running cost is beans. A 1.5-litre jug uses a fair amount of coffee each time, so if you only drink one cup a day, the single-cup Tazza may waste less.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a machine with a built-in water filter. Neither Morphy Richards’ page nor Currys’ listing mentions one.

The Zino vs the alternatives

Melitta AromaFresh II. This is the closest rival. It’s £150.00 at Currys (in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026), only £1 more than the Zino. Currys lists 11 grind settings, three strength settings, a timer and a 10-cup jug, plus a three-year guarantee. It uses paper filters rather than a reusable one. Our Melitta AromaFresh II review covers it in detail.

Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10. If you actually want espresso and milky drinks, this is a proper espresso bean-to-cup with a manual steam wand. It’s £279 at John Lewis, checked 3 Oct 2026. For more choice at that level, see our guide to bean-to-cup machines under £500.

A separate grinder plus a filter machine. If you’d like more grind control, a standalone burr grinder gives you far more settings. Our guide to budget burr grinders covers the cheaper options.

Who it isn’t for: the Zino isn’t the pick if grind control matters most. The Melitta lists more settings for almost the same price.

Downsides

  • Not an espresso machine. The “bean to cup” label can mislead. There’s no pump and no milk system.
  • Basic grind choice. Only fine and coarse settings are listed, plus pre-ground.
  • Conflicting dimensions. Morphy Richards and Currys label the 43.3cm side differently, so measure carefully.
  • Few published reviews. We found no independent reviews and no customer reviews on Currys’ listing when we checked, so there’s little owner feedback yet.
  • Unclear “programmable” feature. Currys lists it, but neither page explains what it does.

Where to go next

Another listing: Sirius Buying Group’s page for the 162108 Olivine gives the same 200g grinder and 1.5-litre carafe and water tank, checked 3 Oct 2026.

FAQ

Does Morphy Richards make an espresso bean-to-cup machine? Not in its current UK range. Its two grind-and-brew machines, the Zino and the Tazza Pour & Go, make filter coffee. It also sells manual pump espresso machines, but you’d need a separate grinder for those.

Can the Zino use pre-ground coffee? Yes. Morphy Richards lists a ground-coffee setting alongside the fine and coarse grind options.

How many cups does the Zino make? Up to about 12 cups from its 1.5-litre glass jug, according to Morphy Richards UK and Currys.

Does it need paper filters? No. It uses a washable, reusable filter, according to Currys.

Where’s the cheapest Zino? The lowest price we found was £149.00 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026). Prices change, so check on the day.

Is the Morphy Richards Zino a real bean-to-cup coffee machine? It grinds beans and brews them, but as filter coffee. It has no pump and no steam wand, so it isn’t an espresso-style bean-to-cup like a Philips or De’Longhi.

Zino or Melitta AromaFresh II? They were £1 apart at Currys on 3 Oct 2026. Currys lists 11 grind settings, a timer and a three-year guarantee on the Melitta; the Zino has a bigger 12-cup jug and a reusable filter.

How many beans does the Zino hold? 200g, according to Morphy Richards UK and Currys.
