Best kettle under £50: dependable kettles without the premium price
Kettles under £50 from Currys compared on power, filters, lids and guarantees, with every price checked on 3 Oct 2026.

You don’t need to spend much to get a good kettle. The best kettle under £50 for most UK homes is a 3kW model with a limescale filter and a decent guarantee, and there are several of those well below the £50 mark. We’ve compared seven kettles listed at Currys, from a basic budget jug to a quieter mid-range model. We haven’t tested this in person. Our picks are based on published specs, the retailer’s listings and UK prices checked on 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
Best kettle under £50: the short answer
Buy the Russell Hobbs Honeycomb 26051 for all-round value. It’s £27.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, prices can change. You get 3,000W, 1.7 litres, a limescale filter and a two-year guarantee.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a quieter boil. See the Quiet Boil below.
Get the Russell Hobbs Quiet Boil 20460 if you want the longest guarantee and less noise. It’s £44.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026. Currys lists a three-year guarantee (the third year by registration) and a claim of up to 75% quieter than a standard kettle.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants the lowest price. You’re paying for the quieter design.
Choose the Morphy Richards Equip 102783 if you want 3kW for the least money. It’s £23.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, prices can change.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who cares about a premium finish. It’s a simple, plain jug.
Skip the cheapest unless it’s a stopgap. The Logik L17JKW26 is £10.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026. It works, but the listing shows no limescale filter and lower listed power of 1,850–2,200W.
Who it isn’t for: hard-water areas, where a filter helps keep flakes out of your mug.
What under £50 gets you
At this price you can expect the basics done well:
- 3kW power on most models, which is as fast as UK plug-in kettles get. The Logik L17JKW26 and Igenix IG7280 are lower-powered, so they’ll be slower.
- 1.7-litre capacity, enough for about six mugs.
- A limescale filter on most models. The Logik L17JKW26 is the exception here.
- Boil-dry protection, which switches the kettle off if it’s run empty, is listed on most of these.
What’s rare under £50 is temperature control, which matters for green tea or pour-over coffee. None of the kettles we checked under £50 had it. The Ninja Perfect Temperature KT201UK was listed at £89.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, if you need it.
Who it isn’t for: pour-over coffee fans. A gooseneck kettle gives you the slow, steady pour, and none of these does.
The picks in more detail
Igenix IG7280 (£17.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026). A 2,200W, 1.7-litre jug with a limescale filter, safety-lock lid and a two-year guarantee. It’s a sensible step up from the cheapest kettles, but slower than the 3kW models.
Bosch MyMoments TWK1M127GB (£34.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026). 3,000W, 1.7 litres, a push-button lid, limescale filter and a two-year guarantee. Prices can change, so check on the day.
Breville Mostra VKT269 (£39.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, prices can change). 3,000W and 1.7 litres with a lift-off lid and a one-year guarantee. The low price is tempting, but the guarantee is shorter than the Russell Hobbs and Bosch models.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a smaller kettle. All of these are full-size 1.7-litre jugs.
Limescale filters and descaling
If you live in a hard-water area, limescale builds up inside any kettle. It can make the boil slower and noisier, and flakes can end up in your drink. A removable filter in the spout catches most of those flakes, but it doesn’t stop scale forming on the element. Descale regularly using the method in your kettle’s instructions, and rinse the filter under the tap.
Who it isn’t for: soft-water homes need to descale far less often.
When it’s worth spending more than £50
- You want temperature control for tea or coffee.
- You want a gooseneck spout for pour-over.
- Noise is the priority, and you want the widest choice of quiet models. Our best quiet kettle guide covers them.
Otherwise, a 3kW kettle with a filter from the list above covers the basics well.
Downsides
- Prices move. Currys prices can change, so check on the day.
- One-year guarantees. The Breville Mostra has a shorter guarantee than most picks here.
- Retailer coverage. Argos and John Lewis blocked our check, so we’ve only shown Currys prices.
