Best moka pot for induction: stainless stovetop pots that work on induction
Induction-compatible moka pots and conversion plates sold in the UK, compared on material, size and stock, with prices checked 3 Oct 2026.

Induction hobs are great for cooking, but they’re fussy about pans, and the classic aluminium moka pot doesn’t work on them. If you’re looking for the best moka pot for induction, you have two routes: buy a stainless steel pot with a magnetic base, or put an aluminium pot on a conversion plate. We’ve compared four induction-ready pots and two plates sold by UK retailers, and every induction claim here comes from the product page. We haven’t tested this in person. Our picks are based on published specs, the retailers’ listings and UK prices checked on 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.

Who it isn’t for: anyone choosing on value. The Verona does the same job for less.
Why classic moka pots don’t work on induction
Induction hobs heat the pan itself using a magnetic field, so the base must be made of a magnetic metal such as many stainless steels. Aluminium isn’t magnetic, so a traditional aluminium moka pot just sits on the hob without heating. Lakeland says plainly that the aluminium La Cafetière Venice works on all stovetops except induction, and Sous Chef says the classic aluminium Moka Express needs Bialetti’s induction plate.
A quick check at home: if a fridge magnet sticks firmly to the base of a pot, it should work on induction.
Who it isn’t for: if you also cook on gas sometimes, a cheaper aluminium pot plus a plate may suit you better.
Steel pot or adapter plate?
A stainless steel pot heats directly from the hob, so there’s no extra kit and less waiting. The choice of models is smaller, and they usually cost more than aluminium.
A conversion plate sits on the induction zone, heats up, and passes the heat into whatever’s on top. It means you can keep a much-loved aluminium pot, and Sous Chef says the Bialetti plate also suits small milk pans. The La Cafetière plate at Lakeland (£21.99, checked 3 Oct 2026) is listed as aluminium and stainless steel with a bakelite handle that stays cool. Plates take longer, and they stay hot after you switch off, so put them somewhere safe to cool.
Who it isn’t for: anyone with children around the hob may prefer a steel pot over a hot plate.
The induction pots in more detail
La Cafetière Verona Glass 6-Cup (£67.99 at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026). The glass top lets you watch the coffee rise, so it’s easier to take off the heat at the right moment. La Cafetière bases its six cups on 48ml each.
Bialetti Venus 4-Cup (£45.99 at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026, out of stock). Lakeland lists 170ml, a flip-top lid, an anti-slip handle and dishwasher safety.
Bialetti Mini Express Induction (£79.99 at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026, out of stock). A small 90ml pot that pours straight into two included cups. Lakeland says it works on gas, electric, ceramic and induction hobs.
Bialetti x Dolce & Gabbana Moka Induction 4-Cup (£115.00 at Sous Chef, checked 3 Oct 2026). Sous Chef describes a steel outer layer for induction and an aluminium inner layer for even heat. It’s hand-wash only, with no detergent.
Who it isn’t for: anyone making coffee for four or more should look at the 6-cup Verona.
Heat settings to avoid bitter coffee
Induction can be very fast and very hot. Lakeland’s description of the Bialetti Mini Express says to heat it on a low setting, and that’s good advice for any moka pot. Too much heat pushes the water through quickly and can taste burnt. Start low to medium, keep the lid open if you can watch it, and take it off the hob as soon as the coffee starts to sputter. Some people start with hot water in the base to shorten the time on the heat.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants walk-away brewing. You need to stay with a moka pot.
Sizes and gasket care
Moka “cups” are espresso-sized, so a 4-cup pot makes about one large mug’s worth. The rubber gasket wears over time and can leak if it hardens; replacements are size-specific, so check spares are sold for your exact pot. Let the parts dry apart after rinsing.
Downsides
- Limited stock. Two of the four induction pots were out of stock at Lakeland on 3 Oct 2026.
- Fewer models. There’s less choice in steel than in aluminium.
- Plates are slower. And they stay hot after use.
