Costa coffee pods: which Costa pods fit Tassimo, Nespresso and Dolce Gusto
Costa pods come in three formats in UK shops: Tassimo T DISCs, Dolce Gusto-compatible pods and Nespresso-compatible capsules. What fits which machine, and prices checked 3 Oct 2026.

Costa pods are sold in three different formats in the UK, and they aren’t interchangeable. Tassimo owners need Costa T DISCs, Dolce Gusto owners need Costa’s Dolce Gusto-compatible pods, and Nespresso Original owners need Costa’s aluminium capsules. Below we explain which Costa pods fit which machine, what each range includes, what they cost per drink, and how to recycle them. We haven’t tested this in person. This guide is based on Tassimo UK, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons listings, Podback’s guidance, and prices checked on 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
Quick answer: Costa pods come in three formats in the UK: Tassimo T DISCs (the biggest range, including lattes), Nespresso Original-compatible capsules and Dolce Gusto-compatible One Pods. They aren’t interchangeable, so check the pack names your machine. On 3 Oct 2026 the cheapest per drink were Costa’s Nespresso-compatible capsules, at £3.50 for 10 at Morrisons (35p each).
Costa pods: the short answer
Tassimo owners get the biggest Costa range, including lattes and cappuccinos. The Costa Americano is the cheapest per cup: £7.25 for 16 drinks at Tassimo UK, checked 3 Oct 2026, about 45p a drink.
Who it isn’t for: anyone without a Tassimo machine; T DISCs only fit Tassimo.
Nespresso Original owners can buy Costa capsules for £3.50 for 10 at Morrisons, checked 3 Oct 2026, 35p a capsule.
Who it isn’t for: Vertuo owners; the pack says Nespresso Original and L’OR Barista machines.
Dolce Gusto owners can buy Costa One Pod lattes and cappuccinos for £4.50 for 10 at Morrisons, checked 3 Oct 2026, 45p a drink.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a black coffee from Costa in a Dolce Gusto machine; we only found milky drinks.
How to check which Costa pods fit your machine
Look at the pack before you look at the drink. Each Costa format says which system it’s for:
- Tassimo: the pack says Tassimo, and the pods are flat discs called T DISCs. Tassimo UK says each T DISC has a barcode on top, which the machine reads to set the brewing time, temperature and amount of water. Tassimo UK also says T DISCs only work in Tassimo machines.
- Dolce Gusto: Morrisons lists these as “Costa Nescafe Dolce Gusto Compatible One Pod”.
- Nespresso: Morrisons’ listing says the capsules are compatible with Nespresso Original and L’OR Barista machines. Its trademark note says Nespresso is a third-party trademark not related to Jacobs Douwe Egberts or Costa.
If you’re still choosing a machine, our guide to Tassimo vs Dolce Gusto vs Nespresso compares the three systems, and our capsule coffee guide covers pod coffee more broadly.
Costa pods for Tassimo
Tassimo has the longest list of Costa drinks. Tassimo UK listed Costa Latte, Costa Cappuccino, Costa Caramel Latte, Costa Americano and Costa Skinny Latte on 3 Oct 2026.
Milky drinks use two T DISCs. Tassimo UK’s Costa Latte pack has 16 T DISCs for 8 servings. For the Caramel Latte, Tassimo UK says you put in the milk T DISC first, then the espresso T DISC.
Prices, all checked 3 Oct 2026:

- Costa Americano: £7.25 for 16 drinks at Tassimo UK, checked 3 Oct 2026, about 45p a drink. See Costa Americano in Tassimo UK’s Costa range
- Costa Caramel Latte: £7.25 for 8 drinks at Tassimo UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
- Supermarket packs: Costa Latte (6 drinks) and Costa Americano (12 T DISCs) were £5.70 each at Sainsbury’s, checked 3 Oct 2026. See Costa Americano at Sainsbury’s

For a Tassimo machine to run them, see our Tassimo Finesse review.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who drinks mostly milky coffee on a budget; at about 91p to 95p a drink, the Costa lattes cost twice what the Americano does.
Costa pods for Nespresso Original machines
Costa’s Nespresso-compatible capsules come in three blends at Morrisons: Medium Roast, Colombian Espresso and Decaf. Each was £3.50 for 10 at Morrisons, checked 3 Oct 2026. See Costa Medium Roast capsules at Morrisons
Morrisons’ listing says the capsules fit Nespresso Original and L’OR Barista machines. They’re coffee only, so for a latte you’d add milk yourself.
For other Nespresso-compatible pods, including L’OR and supermarket own-label capsules, see our guide to the best Nespresso pods.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a milky drink from a single pod.
Costa pods for Dolce Gusto machines
Costa’s Dolce Gusto-compatible range at Morrisons is three milky drinks: Latte, Cappuccino and Caramel Latte. Each was £4.50 at Morrisons, checked 3 Oct 2026. See Costa One Pod Latte at Morrisons
Unlike many milky Dolce Gusto drinks, these are one-pod drinks. Morrisons’ listing says the pack contains 10 pods of spray-dried instant coffee and milk powder, all in one. So you get 10 drinks a box.
For a Dolce Gusto machine, see our Dolce Gusto Genio S Plus review.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants ground coffee rather than instant; these pods use instant coffee and milk powder.
How to recycle Costa pods
Podback says plastic pods, including Tassimo and Nescafé Dolce Gusto, go in a green Podback bag, and aluminium pods, including Nespresso-compatible ones, go in a white bag (Podback FAQs). Tassimo UK’s Costa Caramel Latte page says the pods are recyclable with Podback. If you’re not sure what your pods are made from, Podback suggests checking the packaging.
Downsides and things to know
- Three formats, no crossover. Buying the wrong format is the easiest mistake to make.
- Milky Tassimo drinks cost more. Two T DISCs per drink roughly doubles the price per cup.
- No Vertuo range found. We didn’t find Costa pods for Nespresso Vertuo machines.
