Starbucks Nespresso pods: the UK Starbucks by Nespresso range explained
The Starbucks by Nespresso range sold in the UK, by roast, with pack sizes and prices from Sainsbury's and Morrisons checked 3 Oct 2026, plus which machines they fit and how to recycle them.

Starbucks Nespresso pods are among the easiest branded pods to find in UK supermarkets, and they’re made for Nespresso’s Original machines. Below we explain what’s in the UK range, how the roasts differ, what they cost in 10 and 36-packs, and how to recycle the capsules. We haven’t tested this in person. This guide is based on Starbucks at Home’s UK website, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons listings, and prices checked on 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
Starbucks Nespresso pods: the short answer
Buy a 36-pack if you’ve found a blend you like. Sainsbury’s sells Espresso Roast, House Blend and Blonde Roast 36-packs for £9.25, checked 3 Oct 2026, about 26p a pod.
Who it isn’t for: anyone still working out which roast they like.
Get a 10-pack to try a new blend or a flavoured pod. They’re £3.00 at Sainsbury’s, checked 3 Oct 2026; check price at Morrisons.
Who it isn’t for: heavy users, who’ll pay about 4p more per pod than in a 36-pack.
Skip these pods if you have a Vertuo machine. The Starbucks by Nespresso pods sold by these supermarkets are for Original machines.
Which machines do Starbucks Nespresso pods fit?
The Starbucks by Nespresso pods we found at Sainsbury’s and Morrisons are capsules for Nespresso’s Original system. Sainsbury’s listings give ristretto (25ml) and espresso (40ml) cup sizes, which are Original-style serves.
Starbucks at Home’s UK site lists its Starbucks by Nespresso range alongside separate Starbucks by Nescafé Dolce Gusto pods, but we didn’t find a Vertuo range on the UK site, or any Vertuo Starbucks pods at Sainsbury’s or Morrisons, on 3 Oct 2026. If you own a Vertuo machine, check Nespresso UK directly.
Our guide to Nespresso Vertuo vs Original explains the difference between the two systems, and our Nespresso CitiZ review covers an Original machine these pods fit.
Who it isn’t for: Dolce Gusto owners need Starbucks’ separate Dolce Gusto pods, covered in our guide to Starbucks Dolce Gusto pods.
The UK range by roast
Starbucks at Home’s UK site groups its Starbucks by Nespresso pods into three roast levels. Here’s what it listed on 3 Oct 2026:
Starbucks Blonde Roast
The lightest roasts in the range: Blonde Espresso Roast, Blonde Espresso Roast Decaf, Sunny Day Blend, Guatemala (a single-country coffee), and the flavoured Creamy Vanilla, Smooth Caramel, Chocolate Hazelnut and a seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a classic dark, intense espresso.
Medium Roast
Pike Place Roast, House Blend, Breakfast Blend and Colombia.
Who it isn’t for: anyone after a flavoured pod; the flavoured ones sit in the Blonde group.
Dark Roast
Espresso Roast, Decaf Espresso Roast, Italian Style Roast and a new Ristretto Shot. Starbucks at Home says its Espresso Roast has been the base for Starbucks drinks since 1984.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who finds dark roasts bitter; start with a Blonde Roast.
Starbucks at Home also says it uses only 100% arabica beans.

Allergens and ingredients
Starbucks at Home’s FAQ says Starbucks by Nespresso capsules don’t contain common food allergens, including dairy, gluten, nuts, soy and eggs, and that “nutty” or “cocoa” flavour notes describe the taste rather than ingredients. It also says the capsules contain no preservatives. Flavoured pods are a different product, so check the pack if you have an allergy.
How to recycle Starbucks Nespresso pods
Starbucks at Home says the capsules are aluminium, with at least 80% recycled aluminium. Its recycling page points to Podback, which offers free recycling bags and drop-off points (Starbucks at Home recycling).
Podback’s Recycle Checker shows drop-off points near your postcode, and Podback says aluminium pods, including Nespresso and Nespresso-compatible ones, go in its white bag, which is needed for supermarket drop-offs (Podback FAQs). Starbucks at Home’s FAQ also describes Nespresso’s own scheme: a free recycling bag returned to Nespresso boutiques or CollectPlus points.
