Dualit coffee pods: what's in the Nespresso-compatible range

Dualit sells Nespresso-compatible pods in aluminium and home-compostable versions. Here's what's in each range, what they cost from Dualit today and how to dispose of them.

Dualit coffee pods are capsules made to fit Nespresso Original machines, sold in two versions: aluminium pods and home-compostable pods. Dualit, the appliance maker, also sells its own Pod Machine that takes the same capsules. This guide explains what’s in the Dualit coffee pods range, what the pods cost from Dualit’s own shop on 3 Oct 2026, and how to dispose of each type. We haven’t tested this in person. Everything here comes from Dualit’s product pages and prices we checked on the date shown. Read how we compare.

Dualit coffee pods: the short answer

Buy Dualit’s aluminium pods if you have a Nespresso Original machine and want a straightforward compatible pod at about 34p each when bought in a box of 50 from Dualit. Dualit says the empty capsules can go in household recycling once the grounds are out.

Who it isn’t for: anyone with a Vertuo machine. Dualit says its pods don’t suit Vertuo, built-in or professional Nespresso models.

Choose the home-compostable version if you’d rather put used pods in a food waste bin or garden compost. Dualit lists the same core blends in both versions at the same price.

Who it isn’t for: anyone whose council food waste service won’t take capsules. Dualit itself tells buyers to check local rules.

What’s in the range

Dualit’s shop lists four core blends in aluminium, each in boxes of 50 and each containing 5.2g of coffee per pod, according to Dualit:

  • Americano: a medium-strength blend from Brazil, Nicaragua and Colombia, which Dualit says works as an espresso or a longer coffee. Dualit lists it as Fairtrade certified.
  • Intense: a stronger espresso blend from Brazil, Nicaragua and Ethiopia, also listed as Fairtrade certified.
  • Decaf: a Peruvian coffee that Dualit lists with Arabica and Robusta, pitched at Americanos and milk drinks.
  • Indian Monsoon: a dark roast from India.

The home-compostable range repeats those four, plus an Organic Colombian (out of stock when we checked) and a Half Caffeine blend. Dualit says the compostable pods come in seven blends, though we only found six listed on 3 Oct 2026.

For the Half Caffeine pods, check price at Dualit. The product title shows a best-before date of 30 Sep 2026, which had already passed when we checked. That’s worth knowing before you buy.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a wide flavour range. Dualit’s line-up is small compared with the big pod brands.

What Dualit coffee pods cost

On Dualit’s UK shop, checked 3 Oct 2026, every core blend in both versions was £16.99 for 50 pods, which works out at about 34p a pod by our sums. The compostable product pages mention 10-pod packs too, but we didn’t see a price for them, so we haven’t listed one. Dualit’s banner offers free delivery when you spend £250, so smaller orders pay for delivery.

We also looked at Tesco, but it blocked our check, so we can’t confirm supermarket stock or prices.

Who it isn’t for: anyone ordering a single box online. Delivery costs can erase the per-pod saving.

Aluminium or compostable: disposal

Aluminium pods. Dualit says to tip the grounds into your food waste or compost, then put the capsule and lid in your recycling bin or take them to a household waste recycling site. Whether your council accepts small aluminium items at the kerbside varies, so check locally. Dualit also sells the EcoPress (£9.99 at Dualit, checked 3 Oct 2026), a hand tool that pushes the grounds out of used aluminium capsules. Dualit says it holds the grounds of up to ten capsules and works with most aluminium capsules except Vertuo, built-in and professional ones.

Home-compostable pods. Dualit says the pod and lid can go in a food waste bin or a garden compost heap, and advises checking with your local authority for restrictions.

Who it isn’t for: anyone hoping to post pods off for recycling with no prep. Dualit’s route is DIY.

The Dualit Pod Machine

If you don’t have a Nespresso machine yet, Dualit sells its own Pod Machine for £129.99 at Dualit, checked 3 Oct 2026. Dualit lists a 0.8-litre tank, 19-bar pressure, a 40-second heat-up, espresso (35ml) and lungo (70ml) presets you can reprogramme, and auto-off after 15 minutes. It’s designed for Nespresso Original capsules, so it takes Dualit pods and other compatible brands. A review on Dualit’s own page mentions that tall mugs don’t fit and pods sometimes stick.

For more established Nespresso Original machines, see our Nespresso CitiZ review or Essenza Mini vs CitiZ.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants milk drinks at the touch of a button. The Pod Machine has no milk system.

Downsides

  • Small range: four core blends, plus a couple of compostable extras.
  • Delivery threshold: free delivery only over £250 at Dualit.
  • Mixed fit reports: one owner review on Dualit’s site reports a box of capsules that produced mostly water. That’s a single report, but worth knowing.
  • Short-dated stock: the Half Caffeine pods we saw were past their best-before date.
