This Lakeland bean to cup coffee machine review covers the two machines Lakeland sells under its own name with a built-in grinder. The Lakeland Barista Deluxe Bean-to-Cup Espresso Machine was £299.99 and in stock at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026. The Lakeland Bean to Cup Filter Coffee Machine was marked discontinued and unavailable the same day. We haven’t tested this in person. Our verdict is based on Lakeland’s product pages, Currys’ listings and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.

Quick answer: the only Lakeland bean-to-cup machine on sale when we checked is the Barista Deluxe, £299.99 at Lakeland on 3 Oct 2026. It’s a manual espresso machine with a built-in grinder (30 settings), a steam wand, a 2.8-litre tank and a three-year guarantee, not a one-touch automatic. Lakeland’s bean-to-cup filter machine was marked discontinued.

Lakeland bean to cup coffee machine review: the short answer

Consider the Lakeland Barista Deluxe if you want to make espresso by hand with fresh-ground beans, and you’d like the grinder, tamper and milk jug in one box for £299.99 at Lakeland (checked 3 Oct 2026).

Skip it if you want a true one-touch bean-to-cup. Despite the name, the Barista Deluxe works like a Sage Barista Express-style machine: it grinds into a portafilter, then you tamp, brew and steam milk yourself. An automatic machine such as the Philips 2200 does all of that for you.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a fresh-ground filter machine. Lakeland’s own filter model is discontinued, so look at the Melitta AromaFresh II instead.

Barista Deluxe: specs from Lakeland

  • Grinder: an integrated conical burr grinder with 30 grind settings and adjustable grinding time for single or double shots.
  • Brewing: a 15-bar pump, a die-cast aluminium portafilter, single and double filter baskets, and temperature control.
  • Controls: backlit buttons for a single or double shot, and a dial for hot water and steam.
  • Milk: a built-in steam wand, with a 350ml stainless steel milk jug in the box.
  • Water: a 2.8-litre tank.
  • Size and power: about 33 x 30 x 42cm (H), 8.2kg, 1350W to 1650W and a 70cm flex.
  • In the box: bean hopper, tamper, portafilter, filter baskets, milk jug and cleaning brushes.
  • Guarantee: three years from Lakeland.

Who it isn’t for: small kitchens. At about 42cm high, check it fits under your wall cupboards.

How it differs from an automatic bean-to-cup

An automatic bean-to-cup grinds, doses, tamps and brews inside the machine, then dumps the used coffee into a grounds box. The Barista Deluxe grinds into the portafilter you hold underneath, and you tamp, lock it in and press for a single or double shot. That gives you more control over the result, but you’ll need to practise and clean the portafilter after every drink.

Who it isn’t for: busy households who want coffee in seconds with no mess.

Barista Deluxe vs Sage Barista Express

Lakeland also sells the Sage Barista Express BES875UK, which works the same way: grind into the portafilter, tamp, brew and steam. It was £629.99 at Lakeland, checked 3 Oct 2026, so the Barista Deluxe costs less than half as much. Here’s how Lakeland’s listings compare:

  • Grind settings: 30 on the Barista Deluxe and 18 on the Barista Express.
  • Water tank: 2.8 litres on the Barista Deluxe and 2 litres on the Barista Express, which also has an integrated water filter.
  • Milk jug: 350ml with the Barista Deluxe, and 480ml with a temperature gauge with the Barista Express.
  • Temperature: Lakeland describes temperature control on the Barista Deluxe, and digital PID temperature control on the Barista Express.
  • Bean hopper: 250g on the Barista Express. Lakeland doesn’t give a hopper size for the Barista Deluxe.

Lakeland marks the Barista Deluxe as new, so there’s little owner feedback yet. Its lower price and bigger tank are its main draws.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a machine with plenty of owner reviews before buying.

The discontinued filter bean-to-cup

Lakeland’s Bean to Cup Filter Coffee Machine grinds beans straight into a filter and brews into a glass jug. Lakeland lists bean settings for two or four cups, a ground-coffee option, light or strong coffee, a 30-minute keep-warm function, an anti-drip valve and a removable grinder basket and filter. It’s 28.5 x 23 x 33cm (H) and 600W, with a three-year guarantee. It was discontinued on 3 Oct 2026.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs a new one. The AromaFresh II below is the nearest alternative we found in stock.

Downsides

  • Not one-touch: the Barista Deluxe is a manual espresso machine with a grinder.
  • Big and heavy at 8.2kg.
  • New model, with no long track record.
  • Filter model discontinued.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a proven, long-running model.

Alternatives to consider

  • Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10: £279 at John Lewis, checked 3 Oct 2026. It’s an automatic bean-to-cup with a classic milk frother and a 1.8-litre tank.
  • Melitta AromaFresh II (black): £150 at Currys, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026, a filter machine with a built-in grinder. The AromaFresh II Therm Pro was £179 at Currys.

Verdict

Lakeland Barista Deluxe Bean-to-Cup Espresso Machine (28300)

The Barista Deluxe is really an espresso machine with a built-in grinder, not a push-button bean-to-cup. At £299.99 with a 2.8-litre tank, a 30-setting burr grinder and a three-year guarantee, it's a tempting price for manual espresso, but it's new and has a short track record.

Pros

  • Pro: Built-in conical burr grinder with 30 settings, per Lakeland
  • Pro: Large 2.8-litre water tank
  • Pro: Steam wand plus a 350ml milk jug and tamper in the box
  • Pro: Three-year Lakeland guarantee

Cons

  • Con: You grind, tamp and brew by hand, unlike an automatic bean-to-cup
  • Con: Large at about 33 x 30 x 42cm and 8.2kg
  • Con: A new model with little owner feedback so far
  • Con: Lakeland's filter bean-to-cup is discontinued
