Lavazza Crema e Aroma vs Super Crema: which beans should you buy?
Two 1kg Lavazza espresso blends that look alike on paper. How Lavazza describes each one, which is easier to buy in the UK, and what they cost on 3 Oct 2026.

Lavazza Crema e Aroma vs Super Crema is a close call on paper: both are 1kg bags of whole beans, both blend arabica with robusta, and Lavazza describes both as medium roasts made for espresso. The real differences are the flavour notes Lavazza gives each one and how easy they are to buy in the UK. We haven’t tested this in person. This comparison is based on Lavazza UK’s product pages, UK retailer listings and prices checked on 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
Quick answer: both are medium-roast arabica and robusta blends sold as 1kg bags of whole beans. Lavazza gives Crema e Aroma chocolate notes and an 8/10 intensity, and pitches it at milk recipes. It gives Super Crema honey and nutty notes and lists it for espresso machines. On 3 Oct 2026 Super Crema was cheaper (£17.99 at A1 Coffee, against £21.75 for Crema e Aroma at Lavazza UK), but only Crema e Aroma was on Lavazza UK’s home shop.
Lavazza Crema e Aroma vs Super Crema: the short answer
Choose Crema e Aroma if you want to buy direct from Lavazza and mostly make milky drinks. Lavazza UK says it’s “ideal for milk recipes”, and it was £21.75 for 1kg at Lavazza UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants the lowest price per kg; supermarket Lavazza 1kg bags were cheaper.
Choose Super Crema if you prefer the sound of honey and nutty notes and don’t mind buying from a specialist coffee supplier. It was £17.99 for 1kg at A1 Coffee, checked 3 Oct 2026.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to pick it up with the weekly shop; we didn’t find it at Sainsbury’s or Morrisons.
How Lavazza describes each blend
Crema e Aroma
Lavazza UK’s consumer product page describes Crema e Aroma as a premium blend of arabica and robusta for long-lasting creaminess, and says it’s ideal for milk recipes. It lists:
- Intensity: 8/10
- Roast: medium
- Aromatic notes: chocolate
- Coffee from: Africa, Asia and South America
- Preparation: espresso or filter coffee, with Espresso and Moka shown as suitable methods
Who it isn’t for: anyone who likes a lighter, fruitier cup; Lavazza pitches this one as creamy and chocolatey.
Super Crema
Super Crema wasn’t on Lavazza UK’s home shop on 3 Oct 2026. Lavazza UK’s business site lists it as a 1kg bag of beans, marked as not available that day. It says Super Crema has a full body with notes of roasted hazelnut and brown sugar, and lists:
- Roast: medium
- Aromatic notes: honey, nutty
- Composition: arabica and robusta
- Coffee from: Asia and South America
- Preparation: espresso machine
Lavazza UK’s business page doesn’t give Super Crema an intensity score, so we can’t compare the two on Lavazza’s 1 to 10 scale.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a decaf or a 100% arabica blend.
Best use: bean-to-cup, espresso and milk drinks
Both blends are sold as whole beans in 1kg bags, which suits bean-to-cup machines and anyone with a grinder.
- Milk drinks: Lavazza UK pitches Crema e Aroma at milk recipes. For more picks, see our guide to the best coffee beans for lattes.
- Espresso machines: Lavazza lists Super Crema for espresso machines, and Crema e Aroma for espresso and moka.
- Bean-to-cup: either works as whole beans. Our guide to the best coffee beans for bean-to-cup machines covers more options.
Who it isn’t for: if you only have a cafetière and no grinder, a ground coffee will be easier.
What “arabica and robusta” means for your cup
Both blends mix the two main coffee species. Arabica is the more widely grown of the two and is usually associated with sweeter, more aromatic coffee. Robusta is often added to espresso blends because it’s associated with a heavier body and a thicker crema. That’s broadly why both of these blends have “crema” in the name.
Lavazza doesn’t publish the arabica-to-robusta split for either blend on its UK pages, so we can’t tell you which has more robusta. What you can go on is Lavazza’s own flavour notes: chocolate for Crema e Aroma, and honey and nuts for Super Crema.
Who it isn’t for: if you know you prefer 100% arabica coffee, look at Lavazza’s Qualità Oro instead, which Lavazza sells as 100% arabica. Our Lavazza Qualità Oro beans review covers it, and our coffee beans guide has more options.
