What Lavazza says is in Crema e Gusto Classico and Dolce, which formats you can buy in the UK, and which brewers each one is meant for, with prices checked 3 Oct 2026.

See every pick at a glance

Lavazza Crema e Gusto is the blend you’ll see stacked on the bottom shelf of most UK supermarket coffee aisles, usually in a red-and-gold brick. This guide covers what Lavazza says is in it, the difference between Crema e Gusto Classico and Dolce, the formats you can buy here, and which brewers Lavazza lists each one for. We haven’t tested this in person. What follows is based on Lavazza UK’s product pages and UK retailer listings and prices checked on 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.

If you’re choosing between Lavazza blends in general, our Lavazza Qualità Oro beans review covers the all-arabica option, and our coffee beans hub compares brands side by side.

Lavazza Crema e Gusto review: the short answer

Buy Crema e Gusto Classico ground if you make coffee in a moka pot and mostly drink it with milk. Lavazza describes it as a soft, rounded blend of arabica and robusta and says it’s ideal for milk-based drinks. Check price at Morrisons.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a bright or fruity cup. Robusta tends to bring bitterness and body rather than delicate flavours.

Choose Crema e Gusto Dolce if you want the same price but a gentler cup. Lavazza gives it 6/10 for intensity against Classico’s 7/10 and describes its aroma as smooth and velvety.

Who it isn’t for: filter coffee makers. Lavazza only lists Dolce for moka.

Get the 1kg Classico Espresso beans if you have a bean-to-cup machine or grinder. At £18.50 a kilo at both Lavazza UK and Morrisons on 3 Oct 2026, it’s one of Lavazza’s cheapest bean bags.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who gets through coffee slowly. A kilo is a lot to keep fresh once the bag is open.

What’s in Crema e Gusto: Classico vs Dolce

Both versions blend arabica with robusta, and that’s the main thing that sets Crema e Gusto apart from Lavazza’s Qualità Oro, which Lavazza lists as 100% arabica.

Classico. Lavazza UK describes the ground version as mainly arabica and robusta, balancing body with spicy top notes. Its collection page names the origins as arabica from Brazil and robusta from Southeast Asia. The ground pack is listed for filter and moka, at intensity 7/10.

Dolce. This one uses arabica from Central and South America with robusta from Southeast Asia. Lavazza calls it a well-rounded, smooth blend and lists it for moka only, at 6/10.

Classico Espresso beans. The whole-bean version is listed for espresso and moka at 8/10. Lavazza describes it as a persistent-crema espresso with a note of wood and says it works as a straight espresso or in a milky latte.

Lavazza UK didn’t list a Crema e Gusto Forte when we checked on 3 Oct 2026, so this page covers Classico and Dolce only.

Who it isn’t for: anyone avoiding robusta. If you want an all-arabica Lavazza, look at Qualità Oro instead.

What it costs right now

Prices we found on 3 Oct 2026:

For context, Lavazza UK listed Qualità Rossa beans at £22.50 a kilo and Qualità Oro beans at £23.65 a kilo on the same day, so the Crema e Gusto bag is the cheaper way into Lavazza beans.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who only shops at one supermarket. Supermarket prices move, so the same pack can cost £1.25 more depending on where and when you buy it.

Which brewer suits each version

Moka pot. This is where Crema e Gusto is most at home. Lavazza lists all three versions (Classico ground, Dolce ground and the beans) for moka. If you use the ground coffee, it’s ready to go: fill the basket level without tamping.

Filter machine. Lavazza lists Classico ground for filter as well as moka. It will work, but most filter coffee in UK shops is a lighter, all-arabica style, so expect a heavier cup. Our filter coffee machines hub covers the machines themselves.

Espresso machine. Lavazza lists the beans for espresso but not the ground packs. If you have a machine with a pressurised basket, a moka-grind coffee may still produce a drinkable shot, but for a standard basket you’ll want beans and a grinder. Our burr grinders under £100 guide is a good place to start.

Bean-to-cup. The 1kg Classico beans are the obvious fit. Lavazza lists them for espresso, which is what a bean-to-cup machine makes.

Cafetière. Lavazza doesn’t list any Crema e Gusto pack for cafetière, and the ground versions are finer than a cafetière normally needs, so you’d get more sludge in the cup.

Who it isn’t for: cafetière drinkers. Pick a coarse-ground pack that’s labelled for cafetière instead.

Crema e Gusto in capsules

Crema e Gusto also comes in two capsule formats, and they’re not interchangeable:

  • Nespresso Original-compatible: 30 capsules for £11.45 at Lavazza UK, checked 3 Oct 2026, with intensity 12/13. There’s a Crema e Gusto Dolce version too, at 10/13 and the same price. Lavazza points out that it has no link with Nespresso.
  • A Modo Mio: 16 capsules for £6.45 at Lavazza UK, checked 3 Oct 2026, with intensity 12/13. These only fit Lavazza’s own A Modo Mio machines. See our A Modo Mio pods guide for the full range.

Who it isn’t for: Nespresso Vertuo owners. Neither capsule fits a Vertuo machine.

Downsides

  • Robusta-heavy style. If you like mild, sweet or fruity coffee, the robusta in both blends works against you.
  • Ground for moka, not espresso. The ground packs are listed for moka and filter, so they’re a compromise in an espresso machine with a standard basket.
  • One big bag of beans. The beans come in 1kg only on Lavazza UK, which is a lot to get through before it goes stale.
  • Supermarket prices swing. Check price at Morrisons on the day. Lavazza UK charged £5.75 for the 250g packs, checked 3 Oct 2026.
  • No roast date on the listings. Neither retailer page showed a roast date, which is normal for supermarket coffee but worth knowing.

FAQ

Is Lavazza Crema e Gusto arabica or robusta? Both. Lavazza UK’s collection page describes Classico as Brazilian arabica with Southeast Asian robusta, and the Classico beans’ product page lists arabica and robusta from Africa, South America and Southeast Asia. Dolce is Central and South American arabica with Southeast Asian robusta.

What’s the difference between Crema e Gusto Classico and Dolce? Dolce is the gentler one, at 6/10 on Lavazza’s intensity scale against 7/10 for Classico ground. Lavazza lists Classico for filter and moka and Dolce for moka only.

Can you use Crema e Gusto ground in an espresso machine? Lavazza doesn’t list the ground packs for espresso. The 1kg beans are listed for espresso, so they’re the better choice if you have a grinder or a bean-to-cup machine.

Is Crema e Gusto good for lattes? Lavazza describes Classico ground as ideal for milk-based drinks, and the beans as working in a latte. Our best coffee beans for lattes guide compares it with other picks.

Where can you buy Lavazza Crema e Gusto in the UK? We found it at Morrisons and on Lavazza UK’s own shop on 3 Oct 2026. Other supermarkets stock it too, but we couldn’t check their prices.

Verdict

Lavazza Crema e Gusto (Classico and Dolce)

A cheap, robusta-led Lavazza blend that Lavazza itself pitches at moka pots and milky drinks. Good value per kilo in the twin pack, but not the one to pick if you drink your coffee black and want something mild.

Pros

  • Pro: Among the cheapest Lavazza blends per kilo at the shops we checked
  • Pro: Lavazza lists Classico ground as ideal for milk-based drinks
  • Pro: Sold as ground, 1kg beans and two capsule formats

Cons
