Melitta Avanza vs Latticia OT: simple frother or one-touch milk?
The Melitta Avanza and Latticia OT share a 20cm-wide body, tank and bean hopper. The difference is milk. Here's how they compare on UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026.

If you’re weighing up the Melitta Avanza vs Latticia OT, you’re looking at two narrow Melitta bean-to-cup machines that share most of their hardware and differ mainly in how they handle milk. The Avanza F270-100 uses Melitta’s Easy Cappuccinatore, a simple milk frother, while the Latticia OT F300-100 makes cappuccino and latte macchiato at one touch. We haven’t tested this in person. Our comparison is based on Melitta UK’s product pages, Currys’ listing and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
On 3 Oct 2026, the bigger difference was availability. Melitta UK listed the Avanza as out of stock, and we couldn’t find it at Currys. The Latticia OT was £399.00 at Currys, in stock, and £549.99 at Melitta UK, also in stock.
Melitta Avanza vs Latticia OT: the short answer
Choose the Latticia OT if you drink cappuccinos or lattes most days and want them at a single press. Melitta UK lists six one-touch options: espresso, café crème, cappuccino, latte macchiato, milk foam and hot water. It can also make two milk drinks at once through its all-in-one spout. At £399.00 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026), it was the one you could actually order.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a self-cleaning milk system. Melitta UK lists no automatic steam cleaning of the milk parts on either machine, so the Latticia’s milk hose still needs a rinse cycle after use.
Choose the Avanza if you mostly drink espresso or café crème and only want milk now and then. Its frother does the frothing for you, but you dispense the coffee and the milk separately and combine them yourself. It’s also a little lighter, at 7.5kg against the Latticia’s 9.3kg, according to Melitta UK.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs a machine now. It was out of stock at Melitta UK on 3 Oct 2026, and we didn’t find it at Currys.
If you’d rather skip milk altogether, our Melitta Purista vs Avanza comparison covers Melitta’s black-coffee machine.

Milk: Easy Cappuccinatore vs LATTEperfection
This is the real choice between the two.
The Avanza’s Easy Cappuccinatore is a milk froth system you connect to your milk. Melitta UK describes it as frothing the milk for you, after which you dispense the coffee and combine the two according to the drink you want. In Melitta UK’s spec list, only espresso and café crème are one-touch drinks on the Avanza. Cappuccino and latte macchiato are possible, but they take a couple of steps, and the spout can’t make two milk drinks at the same time.
The Latticia OT’s LATTEperfection system is built in and works at the press of a button. Melitta says it froths the milk twice, which it credits with finer foam at the right temperature. That’s Melitta’s own claim, and we haven’t been able to check it. The Latticia also uses what Melitta calls its “Italian Preparation Process”, adding the ingredients in a set order: espresso goes in after the milk and foam for a latte macchiato, and before them for a cappuccino. Melitta UK lists this feature as “No” for the Avanza.
The Latticia’s all-in-one outlet has separate nozzles for coffee, milk and hot water, so you don’t need to move the cup between steps. Melitta UK says it can make two coffee-and-milk drinks at once, while the Avanza’s spec list says no to that feature.
Drinks, controls and settings
Both machines use buttons and an LED symbol display rather than a touchscreen, and neither saves personal coffee profiles, according to Melitta UK. Beyond that, the settings are almost identical:
- Coffee strength: three levels on both.
- Grind: five settings on both, from a steel conical burr grinder that Melitta describes as quiet.
- Brewing temperature: 85°C, 90°C or 95°C on both.
- Water per cup: adjustable from 25ml to 220ml on both.
- Double Cup: both can make two coffees at once. Melitta UK says the Latticia can do this with or without milk.
- Hot water: both can dispense hot water. It’s a one-touch option on the Latticia.
The Latticia’s buttons use colour images of each drink, which Melitta says makes it easy to pick one. The Avanza has direct keys for espresso and café crème, and its milk drinks take a couple of steps.
Size, tank and capacity
The two machines are close here too. Melitta UK lists both at 20cm wide, both with a removable 1.5-litre water tank and a 250g bean container. Both are rated at 1450W.
The differences are small:
- Outlet height: up to 135mm on the Avanza and up to 140mm on the Latticia OT, so both take taller glasses. Measure your favourite latte glass if it’s close.
- Weight: 7.5kg for the Avanza and 9.3kg for the Latticia OT, without packaging, per Melitta UK.
- Dimensions: Melitta UK lists the Latticia OT at 352mm high, 200mm wide and 459mm deep. Currys gives 365mm by 250mm by 530mm for the same model, so the two sources disagree. We didn’t find a full set of dimensions for the Avanza on Melitta UK’s page, only its 20cm width. Measure your space and check the latest figures before you buy.
Cleaning and upkeep
Both machines have a removable brewing unit, a service button for the automatic cleaning and descaling programmes, and settings for water hardness. Both work with Melitta’s Pro Aqua water filter, which Melitta says can cut descaling to once a year, based on its own usage assumptions.
The main difference is milk cleaning. The Latticia OT has Melitta’s “Quick & Clean” milk circuit cleaning: you put the milk hose in a container of tap water and start the programme, and the milk unit comes apart for washing. Melitta UK lists no automatic steam cleaning of milk parts on either machine, so neither cleans its milk system on its own.
If you choose the Avanza, check the manual for how to clean the Easy Cappuccinatore after frothing. Our guide to descaling the Melitta Purista walks through the descaling routine on a closely related Melitta machine.
Which should you buy?
For most milk drinkers, the Latticia OT makes more sense on 3 Oct 2026. It was in stock at £399.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, and it turns cappuccino and latte macchiato into one-touch drinks. The trade-off is a milk hose that needs a rinse programme after use, and a slightly heavier machine.
The Avanza suits someone who mainly drinks espresso and café crème and wants a narrow machine with an occasional frothed milk option. But it was out of stock at Melitta UK when we checked, so you can’t buy it there until it returns.
Pay attention to where you buy the Latticia OT, too. At Melitta UK it was £549.99, which is £150.99 more than Currys charged for the same black model on the same day.
