This Melitta Avanza review looks at the Avanza F270-100, the model Melitta UK sells, which its refurbished listing calls the Avanza Series 600. It’s one of Melitta’s narrowest bean-to-cup machines, and it adds a milk frother to the black-coffee-only Purista. The catch on 3 Oct 2026 was stock: Melitta UK listed it as out of stock. We haven’t tested this in person. Our verdict is based on Melitta UK’s product page, Currys’ listings and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.

Melitta Avanza review: the short answer

Get the Melitta Avanza if your worktop is narrow and you want milk drinks without a separate frother. Melitta UK gives the width as 20cm, with a 1.5-litre tank and a 250g bean container.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to buy today. Melitta UK showed it as out of stock, checked 3 Oct 2026, and we didn’t find it at Currys.

Choose the Melitta Latticia OT instead if you don’t want to wait and you’d like lattes at one press. It was £399 at Currys, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026, and Melitta UK lists a one-touch milk system.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who only drinks black coffee. The Melitta Purista is cheaper and skips milk entirely. Melitta Purista: Check price at Amazon for Melitta Purista (opens in a new tab)

What it costs right now

  • Melitta Avanza F270-100: Check price at Melitta UK, but “out of stock, please check back soon”, checked 3 Oct 2026.
  • Refurbished Avanza: Melitta UK also had a refurbished Avanza Series 600 in Mystic Titan at £200, also sold out, checked 3 Oct 2026.

Currys didn’t list the Avanza in its Melitta results on 3 Oct 2026. John Lewis didn’t respond to our check and AO and Argos blocked it, so we couldn’t confirm a price from those retailers.

Who it isn’t for: bargain hunters. Melitta UK showed no stock on 3 Oct 2026, so check price at Melitta UK when stock returns.

Specs from Melitta UK

Melitta UK lists the following for the F270-100 (checked 3 Oct 2026):

  • Size: 20cm wide, weighing 7.5kg without packaging.
  • Water and beans: a removable 1.5-litre tank and a 250g bean container.
  • Grinder: a steel conical burr grinder that Melitta describes as quiet, with five grind settings.
  • Settings: three strength levels, three brewing temperatures (85°C, 90°C and 95°C) and water quantity from 25ml to 220ml.
  • One-touch drinks: espresso and café crème.
  • Extras: hot water, a passive cup warmer, a pre-brewing function, two coffee spouts for Double Cup, and a height-adjustable outlet up to 135mm.
  • Power: 1450W, with a 0-watt switch and an energy-saving mode.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a big colour screen or a saved favourite drink. Melitta UK lists an LED symbol display and no “My Coffee” profile.

Milk: how the Easy Cappuccinatore works

Melitta calls the Avanza’s frother the Easy Cappuccinatore. You connect it to your milk and it froths the milk for you. Then, Melitta UK says, you dispense the coffee and combine the two to suit the drink. That’s simpler than a manual steam wand, because you don’t have to texture the milk yourself, but it isn’t one-touch: only espresso and café crème have their own buttons.

Melitta UK lists no automatic steam cleaning of the milk-bearing parts, so rinse them after use.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a cappuccino at a single press. The Latticia OT’s LATTEperfection system does that, per Melitta UK. Our Latticia OT review covers it.

Cleaning and descaling

Melitta UK says the brewing unit comes out so you can clean inside the machine, and a service button gives access to the automatic cleaning and descaling programmes and the water hardness setting. It recommends a Melitta Pro Aqua water filter and says that, with one, you’d only need to descale once a year, based on six 120ml drinks a day and six filter changes. Treat that as Melitta’s estimate under those conditions, not a promise. Melitta Pro Aqua water filter: Check price at Amazon for Melitta Pro Aqua water filter (opens in a new tab)

Melitta’s free Companion App gives cleaning and descaling guidance; Melitta UK doesn’t list app control of drinks.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to avoid buying filters. Without one, plan on descaling more often.

Avanza vs Purista

The Purista is the same narrow width but has no milk system, a 1.2-litre tank, a 125g bean container and no hot water, per Melitta UK. It was £299 for the silver F230-101 at Currys, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026. Our Melitta Purista vs Avanza comparison goes through every difference.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who never drinks milk coffee. The Purista does the black coffee side for less.

Downsides

  • Stock. Out of stock at Melitta UK and not at Currys on 3 Oct 2026.
  • Not one-touch for milk drinks.
  • No automatic milk cleaning, per Melitta UK.
  • Basic controls. Buttons and an LED symbol display.

Alternatives to consider

  • Melitta Latticia OT F300-100: £399 at Currys, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026. One-touch milk drinks, per Melitta UK.
  • Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10: £279 at John Lewis, checked 3 Oct 2026, with a steam frother and 1.8-litre tank listed. See our Philips 2200 review.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs the narrowest machine without measuring first. Melitta UK gives the Latticia OT as 20cm wide, like the Avanza, but Currys lists it at 25cm.
