Nespresso Lattissima One vs Gran Lattissima: which milk machine?
The Lattissima One uses a 165ml single-serve milk jug and costs £209 at Currys. The Gran Lattissima uses a fridge-friendly carafe and more recipes, from £327.95. Here's who each one suits.

If you’re weighing up the Nespresso Lattissima One vs Gran Lattissima, you’re choosing between two Original-system pod machines with built-in milk, made by De’Longhi for Nespresso. The Lattissima One EN510.BK is built around a 165ml single-serve milk jug and was £209.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026. The Gran Lattissima EN640 is built around a larger fridge-friendly milk carafe and six one-touch recipes, and was £327.95 at Juicers, checked 3 Oct 2026. We haven’t tested this in person. This comparison is based on Currys’ and De’Longhi UK’s listings and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.
We’ve covered each machine on its own in our Nespresso Lattissima One review and our Nespresso Gran Lattissima review.
Nespresso Lattissima One vs Gran Lattissima: the short answer
Choose the Lattissima One if you make one latte or cappuccino at a time and want the cheaper machine. Currys lists a 165ml milk container that measures what you pour in and uses all of it, plus espresso, lungo and milk programmes on a narrow Original-system machine.
Who it isn’t for: households making several milky drinks back to back. You’ll refill that small jug for every cup.
Choose the Gran Lattissima if two or more people drink milk coffees most days and you want cappuccino, latte macchiato and flat white at one touch with milk left in a carafe between drinks. De’Longhi UK lists six recipe options, Extra Hot Foam and a dishwasher-safe carafe you can store in the fridge.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who only wants the odd weekend latte. You’d be paying a lot more for carafe capacity you won’t use.

Milk: single-serve jug vs carafe
This is the decision that matters most.
On the Lattissima One, Currys lists a 165ml milk container and a milk range of about 30ml to 165ml. You pour in what you need for one drink; Currys says the machine’s sensor measures it and uses it all. Removable milk parts and the drip tray are dishwasher safe, according to Currys. It’s neat for one person, and awkward if you’re making drinks for guests in a row.
On the Gran Lattissima, De’Longhi UK describes a detachable, refillable milk carafe with a lid, designed to sit in the fridge between uses. The carafe and water tank are dishwasher safe. De’Longhi also lists a Rapid Cappuccino System for hot foam and hot milk, plus an Extra Hot Foam button for your own milk recipe. Sibling Currys listings for this model have put the milk container at 500ml; confirm on the retailer’s page you buy from.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a steam wand for latte art. Both machines froth automatically. A Creatista-style wand machine is a different job.
Recipes, pods and everyday running
Both machines take Nespresso Original capsules, so supermarket-compatible pods work as well as Nespresso’s own. Our capsule coffee hub covers pod options.
Drink menus differ:
- Lattissima One: Currys lists three programmes (espresso, lungo and milk) and names lattes and cappuccinos among the milky drinks you can make. Coffee size on Currys’ listing is small (around a classic espresso/lungo), not a big mug brew.
- Gran Lattissima: De’Longhi UK lists six recipe options, naming cappuccino, latte macchiato and flat white, plus ristretto, espresso and lungo coffee sizes and Extra Hot Foam.
Other practical figures from the listings we used:
- Water tank: 1 litre on the Lattissima One (Currys); 1.3 litres on the Gran Lattissima (De’Longhi UK).
- Pump / heat-up: both use a 19-bar pump; De’Longhi lists an 18-second heat-up on the Gran.
- Width: Currys lists the Lattissima One at about 14.4cm wide, so it suits a tight worktop.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants large black coffees from pods. Vertuo machines brew bigger cups; see our Vertuo Next review if that matters more than Original milk drinks.
Which should you buy?
The Lattissima One suits solo drinkers or couples who make one milky coffee at a time and want the lowest buy-in. At £209.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, it’s the value pick of this pair.
The Gran Lattissima suits busier households that want flat whites and latte macchiatos at one touch with milk waiting in the fridge. Pay De’Longhi’s £419.00 only if you can’t find a lower third-party price like the £327.95 we saw at Juicers.
Consider neither if you rarely drink milk coffee. A plainer Original machine such as the CitiZ, covered in our Nespresso CitiZ review, costs less and leaves milk to a separate frother if you need it occasionally. Our best Nespresso machine guide compares the wider range.
Common questions
Do both take the same pods? Yes. Both are Nespresso Original machines, so Original capsules and compatible supermarket pods fit.
Can the Lattissima One make a flat white? Currys’ programme list for the One is espresso, lungo and milk, and it highlights lattes and cappuccinos. De’Longhi names flat white specifically on the Gran Lattissima. If flat white is a daily drink, the Gran’s labelled recipe is the clearer match.
Is the Gran Lattissima worth roughly double the One? Only if you’ll use the bigger carafe and extra recipes most days. For one milk drink a day, the Lattissima One does the same basic job for less.
