Siemens EQ300 review: a simple bean-to-cup and its catches

The Siemens EQ300 TF301G19 was £299 at Currys on 3 Oct 2026. Here's what Siemens and Currys list for it, where it falls short, and the rivals at the same money.

This Siemens EQ300 review covers the one EQ300 we found sold in the UK, the TF301G19 in piano black. It’s Siemens’ simplest bean-to-cup, and at Currys on 3 Oct 2026 it was £299 and in stock. We haven’t tested this in person. Our verdict is based on Siemens UK’s product page, Currys’ listing and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.

Siemens EQ300 review: the short answer

Buy the Siemens EQ300 if you want cappuccino and latte macchiato at one touch from a slim machine for under £300. It was £299 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026. The Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10, with a steam frother rather than one-touch milk, was £279 at John Lewis, checked 3 Oct 2026.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who fills a big mug several times a day. The 1.4-litre tank will need refilling often.

Skip it if you want a machine that cleans its own milk system. Siemens UK lists “Milk system rinse: No” for the TF301G19, while the pricier EQ500 has Siemens’ autoMilk Clean (see our Siemens EQ500 review). Siemens EQ500: See it at Currys for Siemens EQ500 (opens in a new tab)

Who it isn’t for: anyone who hates rinsing milk parts after every latte.

What it costs right now

  • Siemens EQ300 TF301G19 (piano black): £299 at Currys, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026.

Siemens UK’s own TF301G19 page lists Currys, Siemens’ direct store, Hughes, AO and John Lewis as stockists but doesn’t show a price, so Currys is the only price we could confirm on 3 Oct 2026.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a different colour. We only found piano black.

Specs from Siemens UK

Here’s what Siemens UK lists for the TF301G19 (checked 3 Oct 2026):

  • Size and weight: 383 x 251 x 433mm and 7.0kg. Currys gives the same dimensions but 6.8kg.
  • Water and beans: a 1.4-litre tank and one 250g bean container.
  • Pressure and power: 15 bar and 1300W.
  • Grinder: ceramic, with multilevel grind settings. Siemens calls it ceramDrive and says ceramic stays sharp for longer than steel.
  • Drinks: cappuccino, espresso, milk foam, coffee and latte macchiato, with cappuccino and latte macchiato at one touch without moving the cup.
  • Display: LED, with no Home Connect app.
  • Outlet height: adjustable from 8.5cm to 13cm, which matters if you use tall latte glasses.

Currys lists three coffee strength settings, three preset drink sizes and an auto power shut-off, plus a two-year manufacturer’s guarantee. It lists Americano and warm milk in the drinks rather than “coffee” and “milk foam”, which looks like a naming difference rather than different drinks.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who uses pre-ground coffee, such as a bag of decaf for the evening. Siemens UK lists no ground-coffee funnel and Currys lists whole beans only, whereas De’Longhi UK lists a pre-ground function on the Magnifica Start.

Milk: one-touch, but not self-cleaning

Siemens calls the EQ300’s milk system milkPerfect, and it’s the main reason to choose this machine over a similar price rival with a manual steam wand. Press the cappuccino or latte macchiato button and the machine does the coffee and milk in one go.

The catch is cleaning. Siemens UK lists no milk system rinse for the TF301G19, and it gives the milk nozzle as dishwasher-safe alongside the drip plate and grounds container. Currys’ list of dishwasher-safe parts also includes the drip tray and a milk container, although its own spec table says the machine has no milk container, so we’d go by Siemens.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants hands-off milk drinks every morning. The EQ500 adds automatic milk cleaning, at a higher price.

Cleaning and descaling

Siemens UK lists a removable brewing unit, which you take out and rinse under running water, and automatic cleaning “with tablet” plus a descaling programme. Currys calls the combined cleaning and descaling routine calc’n’Clean. Our guide to running calc’n’clean on the Siemens EQ300 takes you through it from Siemens’ own manual.

Owner searches suggest the brewing unit is the part people ask about most. Google’s UK autocomplete for “siemens eq300” listed “siemens eq300 brewing unit stuck” when we checked on 3 Oct 2026. That tells you it’s a common question, not how often it happens, so we’d treat it as a reason to keep the manual handy rather than a reason to avoid the machine.

Currys lists a Brita removable water filter in its spec table, but its box contents only mention the machine and the instruction manual, so don’t assume a filter is included.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a machine they never have to open up. Bean-to-cup machines all need regular rinsing and descaling.

Downsides

  • Small tank. 1.4 litres, against 1.8 litres on the De’Longhi Magnifica Start at De’Longhi UK.
  • No automatic milk rinse. Siemens UK lists none, so the milk parts need regular washing.
  • Beans only. No funnel for pre-ground coffee is listed.
  • Basic extras. Siemens UK lists no cup warmer, no two-cups-at-once button and no app.
  • One stockist price. We could only confirm the price at Currys on 3 Oct 2026, and its earlier Was price shows how much it can move.

Alternatives to consider

  • Philips Series 2200 EP2220/10: £279 at John Lewis, checked 3 Oct 2026. It costs £20 less, and Currys lists a steam frother rather than one-touch milk, with a bigger 1.8-litre tank. Our Philips 2200 review covers it in detail.
  • De’Longhi Magnifica Start ECAM220.22.GB: £299.00 at Appliances Direct, checked 3 Oct 2026. De’Longhi UK lists a 1.8-litre tank, a traditional milk frother and a pre-ground coffee function. See our Magnifica Start review.

For more choice, our guide to bean-to-cup machines under £500 compares a wider range.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who’s happy to froth milk by hand. In that case the Magnifica Start’s bigger tank and pre-ground option may suit you better for about the same money.
