Lavazza A Modo Mio pods: the range, compatibility and where to buy
Every Lavazza A Modo Mio capsule blend sold in the UK, which machines take them (and which older ones don't), what they cost per pod, and where we found them on 3 Oct 2026.

Lavazza A Modo Mio pods are Lavazza’s own capsule system, separate from Nespresso. They only fit A Modo Mio machines, and even some older A Modo Mio models are now left out. This guide lists every A Modo Mio blend Lavazza UK was selling on 3 Oct 2026, what each pod costs, which machines take them, and where you can buy them. We haven’t tested this in person. Everything here comes from Lavazza UK’s own pages and UK retailer listings and prices checked on 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare.

What A Modo Mio is (and isn’t)
A Modo Mio is a closed system: Lavazza makes both the machines and the capsules. That makes it different from Lavazza’s other capsule range, which is built to fit Nespresso Original machines. The two capsule shapes aren’t interchangeable, so check which kind of machine you have before you order.
Lavazza UK gives a few technical details for the system:
- Up to 7.5g of coffee per capsule, vacuum-packed.
- Brewing at 90–96°C and roughly 8–9 bar on the coffee.
- A 25–35ml espresso, extracted over 20–27 seconds.
Lavazza also describes its A Modo Mio capsules as compostable. It doesn’t say on that page whether that means your home compost heap or an industrial facility, so check your local council’s guidance before you put used pods in a food or garden waste bin.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to shop around for pods. With a closed system, you’re relying on Lavazza and the shops that stock its capsules.
Which machines take A Modo Mio pods?
Lavazza UK’s capsule pages carry a warning: the current capsules aren’t compatible with the Espria, Espria+, Magia, Magia+, Fantasia and Fantasia+ A Modo Mio machines. If you have one of those older models, these pods aren’t for you.
The A Modo Mio machines Lavazza UK was selling on 3 Oct 2026 included:

- Deséa: £249.00 at Lavazza UK.
- A Modo Mio SMEG: £249.00 at Lavazza UK.

Who it isn’t for: owners of a Nespresso Original machine. You’ll want Lavazza’s Nespresso-compatible capsules instead, which are a separate range.
Lavazza A Modo Mio pods: the range, blend by blend
Lavazza UK listed eight blends, all in packs of 16. Here’s how they line up, from strongest to mildest on Lavazza’s own 1–13 intensity scale.
Intenso (13/13). Lavazza’s strongest A Modo Mio blend. It mixes Central and South American arabica with Asian and African robusta, and Lavazza describes it as bold and full-bodied with spicy notes.
Crema e Gusto (12/13). Brazilian arabica with African and Asian robusta, described as full-bodied with sweet, chocolatey notes and a touch of spice. It’s the capsule version of the supermarket blend covered in our Crema e Gusto guide.
Passionale (11/13). The product page lists it as 100% arabica, dark roast, with chocolate as its aromatic note. Lavazza’s range page also mentions a slightly caramelised flavour. It’s the one blend we also found at Morrisons.
Qualità Rossa (10/13). Brazilian arabica and robusta. Lavazza calls it full and balanced.
Qualità Oro (8/13). Central and South American 100% arabica, which Lavazza describes as sweet and fragrant with a long finish. If you know the beans, our Qualità Oro beans review covers the same blend.
Delizioso (8/13). Listed on Lavazza UK’s capsule page, but the range page we read didn’t describe it.
Decaf (7/13). Decaffeinated Brazilian arabica. Lavazza says its decaf process keeps the character of each origin.
Lungo Dolce (6/13). The mildest. Asian and Central and South American arabica with fruity notes, meant for a long coffee in a big mug rather than a short espresso.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants flavoured pods. We didn’t see flavoured A Modo Mio capsules on Lavazza UK’s capsule page on 3 Oct 2026.
What A Modo Mio pods cost
On 3 Oct 2026, every 16-capsule pack on Lavazza UK cost £6.45, which Lavazza works out at £0.40 a capsule.
At Morrisons, a 16-pack of Passionale was £6.25 on the same day, 20p less than Lavazza’s own price. That was the only A Modo Mio blend we found at Morrisons.
Lavazza UK also advertised subscription terms for A Modo Mio capsules. We haven’t priced those, as the terms are set by Lavazza and can change.
To compare: Lavazza’s Nespresso Original-compatible capsules were £4.25 to £4.50 for 10 (42p to 45p each) or £11.45 for 30 (38p each) on Lavazza UK on the same day.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who’s only after the cheapest coffee per cup. Ground coffee or beans cost much less per cup than any capsule.
Where to buy A Modo Mio pods in the UK
- Lavazza UK. The full range of eight blends, with free delivery when you spend £50 or more, according to the site.
- Morrisons. Passionale only, when we searched on 3 Oct 2026.
- Other supermarkets. We couldn’t check Tesco’s range because its site blocked our check, so we haven’t listed it.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs to pick pods up in a hurry. With the range spread thinly in shops, ordering ahead from Lavazza is the safer bet.
Downsides
- Closed system. Only A Modo Mio machines take these pods, and six older models are now excluded.
- Limited shop range. We found just one blend at Morrisons.
- Small espresso cups. Lavazza’s own figures are a 25–35ml espresso, so if you like long coffee, only Lungo Dolce is designed for it.
- Compostable, with a caveat. Lavazza doesn’t say on its capsule page how they should be composted, so check local rules.
