L'OR coffee beans: blends, roast strength and UK availability
The five L'OR coffee bean blends sold in the UK, from mild Classique to dark Onyx, what L'OR's intensity numbers mean, and what a 500g bag cost on 3 Oct 2026.

L’OR coffee beans are a small range next to L’OR’s capsules: five blends, all sold in 500g bags on L’OR’s UK shop. This guide explains each blend, what L’OR’s intensity numbers mean, which machines L’OR says the beans suit, and what they cost on 3 Oct 2026. We haven’t tested this in person. Everything here comes from L’OR UK’s own product pages and prices, plus our searches of UK supermarket sites on the same day. Read how we compare.
If you’re comparing brands more widely, our coffee beans hub lines up the main names, and our value coffee beans guide compares price per kilo.
L’OR coffee beans: the five blends
L’OR UK’s beans page listed five blends on 3 Oct 2026, from mildest to strongest:
Classique (6/13, medium roast). L’OR describes it as a smooth arabica with nut and dried-fruit notes. It’s the one to start with if you don’t like a heavy, bitter cup.
Brazil (6/13, medium roast). A single-origin Brazilian coffee. L’OR says the beans come from Minas and Bahia, and that they’re Caracoli beans, which L’OR describes as small and aromatic. Flavour notes are hazelnut, caramel and a nutty smoothness.
Colombia (8/13). Another single origin, this time with honey, citrus, caramel and a touch of lemon, according to L’OR. L’OR lists it as an espresso coffee but doesn’t give a roast level on the product page.
Forza (9/13, dark roast). L’OR calls Forza one of its boldest blends, with rich, sweet and chocolate notes, for espresso or lungo.
Onyx (12/13, dark roast). The strongest bag. It’s the only L’OR bean where the product page mentions robusta: L’OR describes it as dark-roasted arabica and robusta, with notes of nutmeg, ginger, liquorice and bitter almond.
Who it isn’t for: anyone after a light-roast, speciality-style coffee. Even L’OR’s milder beans are pitched at espresso, not filter or pour-over.
What L’OR’s intensity numbers mean
L’OR uses the same intensity numbering for its beans as for its capsules. Its Colombia and Brazil product pages describe the scale as running from 5 to 13, so a 6 is near the mild end, not in the middle. Higher numbers mean a darker, heavier, more bitter cup.
In practice:
- 6: Classique and Brazil, for a smoother espresso or a milk drink that doesn’t taste roasty.
- 8–9: Colombia and Forza, for a fuller espresso.
- 12: Onyx, for anyone who likes a very dark, strong shot.
Who it isn’t for: anyone comparing across brands. L’OR’s 13-point scale doesn’t line up with Lavazza’s 10-point scale for beans or with supermarket strength numbers.
What L’OR coffee beans cost
Prices on L’OR UK’s beans page, checked 3 Oct 2026:
- Classique, Forza or Onyx, 500g: £12.35 each, which is £24.70 a kilo.
- Colombia or Brazil, 500g: £14.75 each, which is £29.50 a kilo.
- Classique, Forza or Onyx, 4 x 500g: Check price at L’OR UK.
- Colombia or Brazil, 4 x 500g: Check price at L’OR UK.
L’OR UK says delivery is free on orders over £30, so a single 500g bag will usually cost you delivery on top.
For context, Lavazza Crema e Gusto Classico beans were £18.50 a kilo at Lavazza UK and Morrisons on the same day. Our Crema e Gusto guide covers that blend.
Who it isn’t for: anyone buying one bag at a time. The single bags cost more per kilo than many supermarket 1kg bags, and the cheaper bundle means buying 2kg at once.
Which machines L’OR coffee beans suit
L’OR’s beans page says its espresso beans are made for a rich crema and full body, and that they’re ideal for espresso machines and bean-to-cup machines. That makes sense for the darker Forza and Onyx in particular.
- Bean-to-cup machine. Any of the five will work. Classique or Brazil suits milk drinks if you don’t want a roasty taste; Forza suits a straight espresso.
- Espresso machine with a grinder. Forza or Colombia, if you like a fuller shot. Our burr grinders under £100 guide covers grinders.
- Cafetière or filter. L’OR doesn’t pitch these beans at filter, but you can grind them coarser. Expect a heavier cup than a typical filter roast.
Who it isn’t for: anyone without a grinder. L’OR only sells these as whole beans, so you’ll need a grinder or a bean-to-cup machine.
