This Nespresso Vertuo Plus review starts with the question most people are really asking: can you still buy one? On 3 Oct 2026, De’Longhi UK listed both colours of the Vertuo Plus as out of stock, and Currys’ Vertuo range didn’t include it at all. So this page covers what the Plus offers, how it compares with the Vertuo Pop, Next and Up, and which of those to buy instead. We haven’t tested this in person. Our verdict is based on De’Longhi UK’s and Currys’ published specs and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. Read how we compare. Nespresso Vertuo Plus review: the short answer

Buy the Vertuo Plus only if you find one in stock, new, at a fair price, and you like the idea of a motorised head and a water tank you can move around the machine to suit your worktop. De’Longhi UK lists the black ENV150.B at £149.99, but out of stock (checked 3 Oct 2026).

Who it isn’t for: anyone who needs a machine this week, anyone who wants cheap supermarket pods, and anyone who wants a frother in the box.

Get the Vertuo Next instead if you want the cheapest sensible way into Vertuo. It’s £69.99 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026), prices can change, with a 1.1-litre tank that’s close to the Plus.

Who it isn’t for: anyone wary of reliability worries, which we cover in our Vertuo Next review.

Choose the Vertuo Up if you want the biggest tank and the widest choice of cup sizes. Currys lists 1.4 litres and seven sizes, from a 25ml ristretto to a 545ml carafe, for £179.99 (checked 3 Oct 2026). Nespresso Vertuo Up: Check price at Amazon for Nespresso Vertuo Up (opens in a new tab)

Who it isn’t for: anyone on a tight budget, since it costs more than double the Next on Currys’ current prices.

Skip Vertuo altogether if you’d rather buy pods in the supermarket. The Original system takes compatible capsules from several brands, while Vertuo doesn’t. Our Vertuo vs Original guide walks through that choice.

Can you still buy the Vertuo Plus new in the UK?

Not easily. Here’s what we found on 3 Oct 2026:

  • De’Longhi UK still has a product page for both versions. The black ENV150.B shows £149.99 and the white ENV150.W is listed too (check price at De’Longhi UK), but both are marked out of stock with a “notify me” option. See the Vertuo Plus at De’Longhi UK
  • Currys lists the Vertuo Pop, Next, Up, Lattissima and Creatista in its Vertuo range, but no Vertuo Plus.
  • Nespresso UK, Argos and John Lewis blocked our checks, so we can’t tell you whether they have stock.

We can’t confirm whether the Plus has been formally withdrawn. What we can say is that it isn’t a machine you can reliably pick up new right now. If you spot one, compare its price with the Next and Up before you buy, because both are in stock and the Next is much cheaper at the moment.

Who it isn’t for: anyone wanting the cheapest option. On 3 Oct 2026 the only list price we could see was De’Longhi’s.

What the Vertuo Plus offers: the specs

Going by De’Longhi UK’s ENV150 listings, the Vertuo Plus has:

  • A motorised head. You press a lever and the head opens and closes itself, rather than you locking it by hand.
  • A movable water tank. The description puts it at 1.2 litres, though the spec table on the same page gives a different figure, so treat it as roughly 1.1 to 1.2 litres.
  • Barcode brewing. Like every Vertuo machine, it reads the code on each pod and sets the water volume and spin to match.
  • Automatic pod ejection into a container De’Longhi lists as holding 14 used pods.
  • Auto power-off after nine minutes, plus a descaling alert, according to the spec table.
  • A weight of about 4.3kg and 1260W of power, as De’Longhi lists it.

The cup sizes are where the listing gets muddled. One section names five sizes, from a 25ml ristretto to a 230ml mug. Another says three: alto, coffee and espresso. The heat-up time is similar, with 40 seconds in one place and 25 in another. We’d go by the pods you plan to buy and check the size printed on each sleeve.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a definite answer on the biggest drink it’ll make before buying. The Up’s listing is much clearer on that.

Vertuo Plus vs Pop, Next and Up

All four machines use the same Vertuo pods and the same spinning, barcode-reading brew method, so the coffee range is the same. The differences are size, tank, cup sizes and price.

  • Vertuo Pop: the compact one. Currys lists the Krups XN920440 with a 0.56-litre tank and four sizes, from a 40ml espresso to a 230ml mug, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, at £99.99 (checked 3 Oct 2026; prices can change). The small tank means more refills than the Plus. See the Vertuo Pop at Currys
  • Vertuo Next: the closest match to the Plus on tank size. Currys lists a 1.1-litre tank and five sizes up to a 414ml alto, at £69.99 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026, prices can change). See the Vertuo Next at Currys
  • Vertuo Up: the roomiest. Currys lists a 1.4-litre tank, seven sizes up to a 545ml carafe, Wi-Fi and a 12-capsule welcome pack, at £179.99 (checked 3 Oct 2026; prices can change). See the Vertuo Up at Currys

Compared with these, the Plus’s selling points are the motorised head and the movable tank. Neither changes what’s in your cup. If those features don’t matter to you, the Next does the same job for less today, and the Up gives you more cup sizes and a bigger tank.

Who it isn’t for: anyone choosing on coffee quality alone, because the pods, not the model, decide what you drink.

Pods and running costs

The Vertuo Plus takes Nespresso Vertuo pods only. Supermarket compatible capsules are made for the Original system, not Vertuo. When we searched Morrisons’ and Currys’ online ranges on 3 Oct 2026, neither showed any Vertuo pods. Nespresso UK’s pod pages wouldn’t load for us, so we can’t give you a verified price per pod. Check current prices on Nespresso’s site before you commit, because over a year or two the pods will cost far more than the machine.

On recycling, De’Longhi’s listing mentions Nespresso’s free capsule recycling programme. Nespresso is also one of the machine brands you can pick on Podback’s UK postcode checker, which points you to recycling options near you. See Podback

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to shop around for pods. If that matters, compare systems in our capsule coffee guide.

Downsides

  • Hard to buy new. Out of stock at De’Longhi UK in both colours and missing from Currys’ range on 3 Oct 2026.
  • Pod lock-in. Nespresso’s own Vertuo pods only, with no supermarket compatibles that we could find.
  • No milk frother. For lattes you’ll need a separate frother; see our milk frother guide.
  • A confusing listing. De’Longhi UK’s page gives two different cup-size counts, two tank figures and two heat-up times.
  • Not cheap compared with the alternatives. At £149.99, it’s more than double the Next’s current price at Currys (both checked 3 Oct 2026).

What to buy instead

  • Most people: the Vertuo Next, at £69.99 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026; prices can change).
  • Big mugs, big tank: the Vertuo Up at £179.99 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026).
  • Small kitchen: the Krups Vertuo Pop XN920440 at £99.99 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026), if you don’t mind refilling a smaller tank.
  • Cheaper pods: an Original-system machine. Our pod machine comparison lists the ones we cover with dated prices.

FAQ

Is the Nespresso Vertuo Plus discontinued in the UK? We can’t confirm a formal withdrawal. On 3 Oct 2026 it was out of stock at De’Longhi UK and absent from Currys’ Vertuo range, and we couldn’t check Nespresso UK, Argos or John Lewis.

What’s the difference between the Vertuo Plus and the Vertuo Next? The Plus has a motorised head and a movable tank. The Next has a similar 1.1-litre tank, according to Currys, and costs much less right now. Both use the same Vertuo pods.

Can the Vertuo Plus use Original Nespresso pods? No. Vertuo machines take Vertuo pods only, and Original pods won’t fit.

Does the Vertuo Plus froth milk? No. De’Longhi UK’s spec table lists no milk system, so you’d need a separate frother.

Which Vertuo machine has the biggest tank? Of the four here, the Vertuo Up, at 1.4 litres according to Currys.
