Nespresso Vertuo Pop review: a compact Vertuo, and what you give up
The Vertuo Pop is £99 at Currys and De'Longhi UK (checked 3 Oct 2026). Here's what its small tank and Vertuo-only pods mean, and why the cheaper Vertuo Next may suit you better.

This Nespresso Vertuo Pop review is for anyone weighing up the smallest-looking machine in Nespresso’s Vertuo range. Vertuo is the system that reads a code on each pod and brews to match, from espresso to a big mug. The Pop is £99.00 at Currys and at De’Longhi UK, checked 3 Oct 2026. We haven’t tested this in person. Our verdict is based on published specs from De’Longhi and Currys and on dated UK prices. Trusted Reviews has published a review of the Vertuo Pop, which we haven’t summarised here. We haven’t found a clear pattern in owner reviews that we can cite and link yet. Read how we compare.
Nespresso Vertuo Pop review: the short answer
Buy the Vertuo Pop if you want simple, one-button black coffee in lots of sizes, you’re short on worktop space, and you like one of its colours. Currys sells the black, black and pink, and yellow De’Longhi versions at the same £99.00 (checked 3 Oct 2026).
Who it isn’t for: anyone filling more than a couple of mugs before a refill. The tank is about 0.6 litres, according to Currys.
Choose the Vertuo Next if you just want the cheapest way into Vertuo. It was £69.99 at Currys on 3 Oct 2026, prices can change, and Currys lists a 1.1-litre tank. Our Vertuo Next review covers it in full. Nespresso Vertuo Next: See it at Currys for Nespresso Vertuo Next (opens in a new tab)
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants a frother in the box. Neither machine has one on its own.
Get the Barista bundle if you drink lattes. At £109.00 at Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026) it’s only £10 more than the Pop alone and adds an Aeroccino milk frother.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who never drinks milk. Then the extra £10 buys you nothing you’ll use.
What it costs right now
- Currys, De’Longhi ENV90.B (black): £99.00, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026. The black and pink (ENV90.P) and yellow (ENV90.Y) versions were also £99.00. See the Vertuo Pop at Currys
- De’Longhi UK, ENV90.B: £99.00, in stock, checked 3 Oct 2026. See the Vertuo Pop at De’Longhi UK
- Currys, Krups XN920440 (white): £99.99, checked 3 Oct 2026. Krups and De’Longhi both make Vertuo machines for Nespresso.
- Currys, Barista bundle ENV90.BAE: £109.00, checked 3 Oct 2026. Currys lists an Aeroccino milk frother, two sleeves of capsules and two mugs with spoons in the box. See the Barista bundle at Currys
We couldn’t check Nespresso UK’s own prices, because its site blocked our check.
Who it isn’t for: bargain hunters who can wait. With the Barista bundle recently at £199.00, prices on Vertuo machines clearly move a lot; see our Black Friday coffee machine guide.
Cup sizes and how it brews
De’Longhi says the Pop reads each capsule’s code and adjusts the brew automatically, spinning the pod (up to 7,000 times a minute, by its own figure) to extract it. After brewing, it ejects the capsule for you. Currys’ listing for the ENV90.B gives six drink sizes:
- Ristretto, 25ml
- Espresso, 40ml
- Double espresso, 80ml
- Gran lungo, 150ml
- Mug, 230ml
- Large mug, 355ml
De’Longhi’s own page talks about five cup sizes (including cold brew) from three capsule sizes, so the exact count depends on how you count them. Either way, the pod decides the size, not a button.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants to adjust strength or volume by hand. Vertuo is built around letting the pod make those choices.
Tank, size and smart features
The Pop’s main compromise is the tank. Currys lists 0.6 litres for the De’Longhi ENV90.B and 0.56 litres for the Krups XN920440. One 355ml large mug uses more than half of that, so expect to refill often. The Vertuo Next’s 1.1-litre tank, per Currys, is nearly twice the size.
Other details from Currys (checked 3 Oct 2026): 1,350W, a weight of 3.5kg, a removable drip tray, an adjustable cup stand and a 2-year guarantee. De’Longhi says the black version is made with 35% recycled plastic. Both De’Longhi and Currys list Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which De’Longhi says are used for automatic software updates.
Who it isn’t for: offices or busy households. A small tank and one cup at a time make it a one- or two-person machine.
Pods and running costs
The Pop only takes Nespresso’s Vertuo pods. That’s the biggest long-term cost to weigh up, because you can’t switch to cheaper supermarket-brand compatibles the way you can with an Original-system machine such as the Lattissima One. We couldn’t confirm what Nespresso charges for Vertuo pods, because its site blocked our check, so we haven’t put a cost per cup on it.
Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants the lowest cost per cup. If that matters most, look at the Original system in our pod machines guide.
Vertuo Pop vs Vertuo Next
- Price: £99.00 for the Pop ENV90.B at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026; check price at Currys for the Krups Vertuo Next X910N40.
- Tank: 0.6 litres against 1.1 litres, per Currys.
- Largest drink: 355ml against 414ml, per Currys.
- Milk: neither has a frother built in.
On these numbers, the Next is the better buy at its current Currys price. The Pop makes sense if you prefer its look or colours, or if the Next’s price goes back up. Who it isn’t for: anyone choosing purely on value today. That’s the Next.
Downsides
- Small tank: about 0.6 litres, per Currys.
- Pod lock-in: Nespresso Vertuo pods only.
- No frother: you’ll need the bundle or a separate frother for milky drinks.
- Undercut by the Next: £69.99 against £99.00 for the Pop ENV90.B at Currys on 3 Oct 2026.
- Cup size claims differ: Currys lists six sizes and De’Longhi describes five.
FAQ
Can the Vertuo Pop make lattes? Not on its own, as it has no frother. The Barista bundle (£109.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026) adds an Aeroccino milk frother.
Does the Vertuo Pop take supermarket pods? No. It only takes Nespresso’s Vertuo pods.
How big is the Vertuo Pop’s water tank? Currys lists 0.6 litres for the De’Longhi version and 0.56 litres for the Krups version.
Is the Vertuo Pop or Vertuo Next better value? On 3 Oct 2026 the Next was cheaper at Currys (£69.99 against £99.00 for the Pop ENV90.B) and had the bigger tank, so it was the better value at that price.
