This Nespresso Vertuo Creatista review covers the Sage-made Vertuo machine with an automatic steam wand (SVE850). On 3 Oct 2026 it was £409.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, while the Sage UK price was £649.95 at Sage UK, checked 3 Oct 2026. We haven’t tested this in person. Our verdict is based on Sage UK’s published specs, Currys’ listings and UK prices checked 3 Oct 2026. TechRadar has published a review of the Vertuo Creatista, which we haven’t summarised here. We haven’t found owner reviews we could link. Read how we compare.

The appeal is simple: Vertuo pods give you everything from a single espresso to a carafe, and the Creatista wand textures milk for you.

Nespresso Vertuo Creatista review: the short answer

Buy the Vertuo Creatista if you like Vertuo’s mug-sized coffees and want silky milk for flat whites and lattes without learning to steam by hand. At £409.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, it’s £240 below Sage UK’s price.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who drinks mainly black coffee. You’d be paying a lot extra for a wand you rarely use; a plain Vertuo such as the Vertuo Next is far cheaper. Nespresso Vertuo Next: See it at Currys for Nespresso Vertuo Next (opens in a new tab)

Choose the Vertuo Lattissima instead if you want one-touch milk drinks from Vertuo pods for less. It was £199.00 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, prices can change. Nespresso Vertuo Lattissima: See it at Currys for Nespresso Vertuo Lattissima (opens in a new tab)

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants control over milk texture. The Lattissima’s milk system offers less adjustment than a steam wand.

Choose the Creatista Plus instead if you’re not tied to Vertuo. It has a similar automatic wand but uses Original pods, and it was £349.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, prices can change. Our Creatista Plus vs Pro comparison covers it. Nespresso Creatista Plus: Check price at Amazon for Nespresso Creatista Plus (opens in a new tab)

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants big mugs and carafes from one pod. Original pods are made for espresso and lungo sizes rather than mugs and carafes.

Vertuo pods and cup sizes

Vertuo machines read a barcode on each capsule and set the brew to match. Sage lists five one-touch sizes on the Vertuo Creatista: Espresso, Double Espresso, Gran Lungo, Mug and Carafe. Double-clicking gives a shorter extraction, which Sage suggests for milk drinks.

The drip tray comes out completely so a travel mug or Nespresso carafe fits underneath, and a small cup support folds into the tray for espresso cups.

The catch is the pods. Vertuo capsules come mainly from Nespresso, and there are far fewer compatible alternatives than for Original machines. Our guide to Vertuo-compatible pods in the UK covers what’s available.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants supermarket pod choice. Original-line machines have many more options.

The automatic steam wand

This is what sets the Vertuo Creatista apart. Sage calls it Auto MilQ: you set one of three milk temperatures and one of three textures, put the jug under the wand and it steams the milk without you holding it. The wand purges itself after use, according to Sage, and a cleaning tool comes in the box. Currys lists a 480ml stainless steel jug.

Because it’s a wand rather than a closed milk system, you can use any milk you like and make as much or as little as the jug holds. You do need to rinse the jug and wipe the wand each time.

Who it isn’t for: anyone who wants no washing-up at all. A jug and wand need cleaning after every milk drink.

Size, tank and connectivity

Sage lists the Vertuo Creatista at 22.8cm wide, 41.7cm deep and 32.1cm high, with a 2-litre water tank and 1,300-1,500W of power. Currys lists the weight as 7.29kg. It’s built from brushed and polished stainless steel, according to Sage.

It connects to the Nespresso app; Currys lists Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Sage says this brings software updates, capsule ordering, tips and maintenance alerts. Sage gives a two-year limited guarantee.

When it’s time to descale, our how to descale a Nespresso Vertuo guide covers the general Vertuo method, but check the Creatista’s own manual first.

Who it isn’t for: anyone short on worktop depth. At 41.7cm deep, measure your space before you buy.

Downsides

  • Price swings: £409.99 at Currys, checked 3 Oct 2026, and Currys prices can change; Sage UK lists £649.95 at Sage UK, checked 3 Oct 2026.
  • Vertuo-only pods: fewer alternatives and less choice than Original pods.
  • Cleaning: a jug and wand to rinse after every milk drink.
  • Depth: 41.7cm deep, according to Sage.
  • Little independent evidence here: we haven’t summarised published tests, and we couldn’t find owner reviews to link.
